I'm a noob in the process of buying a used Yamaha FG700S from someone as my first acoustic guitar (I've only played like a few weeks with a guitar I borrowed from a friend). The guitar is almost 10-years old, and the person I'm buying it from does not play the guitar (the guitar belongs to his sister). So most probably the guitar will need to be set up first before I can play it (e.g. change strings, tuning, setting up the action, etc.)
Is there a recommended guitar shop in Klang Valley where I can bring my guitar to have it set up for a reasonable price? Also how much do people usually charge for this kind of service?

Two is One and One is None.

i believe every guitarist should at least learn to change and tune strings themselves.
as for setting up action, as a beginner, i think just play the guitar first once u have changed the strings... then only u can decide if u want it lower, or maybe even higher so u can strum harder etc... usually these kind of stuff goes for around rm150-200+ depending who u ask.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Nov 23 2019, 03:38 PM) i believe every guitarist should at least learn to change and tune strings themselves. as for setting up action, as a beginner, i think just play the guitar first once u have changed the strings... then only u can decide if u want it lower, or maybe even higher so u can strum harder etc... usually these kind of stuff goes for around rm150-200+ depending who u ask. I just learned how to tune using an app, and changing strings looks simple, so I'm not worried about these 2. It's the setting up action that I find intimidating, because it looks like it can potentially damage the guitar if done wrong. Hopefully the guitar I will be buying doesn't need to be adjusted. Thanks for the response!
