I had some acne issues earlier this year as well. Didn't go for doctor option this time. So, I tried this facial treatment brand called HerbaLine at Desa Hartamas (They have other branches as well). No commitment and quite affordable. After 2-3 treatments with them, my acne went off. I bought some of their facial wash/skincare products as well.

Now skin is clean and clear!

My skin is almost clear now but I used to have eruptions all my life. Usually diet & lifestyle (stress free) are helpful. Lasers and peels were not good except those procedures could help with acne scars.

Acne treatment is not a one size fits all treatment. You have to know what exactly triggers it and what are the best steps and best ingredients to counter it. What better way than to go to licensed dermatologists. I promise it will be worth it!

Oh, Isotretinoin capsules. A long long time ago, I suffered from EXTREMELY SEVERE acne for 13 years. Yeah, Accutane is pretty strong stuff.

Do take note that for some people (me included), the acne will slowly come back after stopping treatment.

This medication works by shrinking the oil gland hence reducing oil production. Stop the medication and the oil production will slowly return to normal and acne may come back.

My face is very oily, so 4 months after completed the treatment, the oil production gets to normal, and slowly acne is coming back. I foresee that if I ignore it for a full year, my face will get as it used to be, so I continued taking Accutane on and off just enough to keep the acne at bay. But this is not healthy for the kidney too.

Few years after that, I just googled this medical article about Zinc deficiency & acne. So I tried taking Zinc supplement just trying my luck. To my amazement, 3 months after that, acne is cleared and they never come back. Have a lesser oily face to boot. So till today, I'll just take zinc pill as my daily supplement.

In all honesty, I don't think that zinc alone could have cleared the severe acne when it was at its peak. I still need Accutane to fix that first but after the severity has decreased to a manageable level, then Zinc can keep the acne from coming back. Or maybe I am just zinc-deficient I don't know, never really got it checked.

TLDR: Accutane can probably clear up most cases of very severe acne problem that is beyond saving. But should your acne come back after the treatment, you'll have to find the underlying reason as to why you have acne in the first place & get that fix if you want the acne to permanently go away.

Well, I have big pores all over my nose. Taking Accutane doesn't seem to make the pores visibly smaller. But the oil production on the face still gets drastically lesser.

But, even if Accutane can make pores smaller, I think it'll just grow back to normal slowly after stopping from the treatment anyway cool2.gif

Hello, is anyone experiencing acnes specifically on chin/jaw only? Don't really seem to be able to figure out the cause. Is it because the chin/jaw is too oily?
