Why would a hardcore terrorist repent of his ideology just because he got caught? Its a strategy to evade the consequences when caught. Its called Taqqiyya. Then when freed they will plan and re-strategize their next attack. Google the Al-Qaeda terrorist in Ampang on how many times he was caught recruiting and planning on new attacks after being released each time he "repented".
