PUTRAJAYA: Sekolah akan dibekalkan dengan senarai pekerjaan yang dikategorikan berisiko pada masa depan sebagai rujukan pelajar untuk memilih jurusan di institusi pendidikan tinggi, kata Menteri Sumber Manusia M Kula Segaran.

Beliau berkata ia akan membantu pelajar mengelak memilih bidang pengajian yang tidak mempunyai masa depan atau sedia berdepan risiko tidak memiliki pekerjaan selepas menamatkan pengajian.

“Saya telah bercakap dengan lebih 400 guru dan majoriti mereka keliru tentang realiti semasa berkenaan bidang pekerjaan yang mungkin tidak lagi relevan atau wujud dalam tempoh tiga atau lima tahun akan datang.

“Sebab itu kementerian bersedia dengan senarai pekerjaan yang dikategorikan kritikal pada masa depan untuk diedarkan kepada semua sekolah selewat-lewatnya akhir Disember ini,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas Majlis Anugerah Tangan Emas Perdana Menteri 2019, semalam.

Fixing Unemployment Supply & Demand... but it must begin with demand first

Demand
- HR Ministry collect data of jobs available (current n future)
- compulsory for all employers sent data to HR ministry (how many retired, new recruitments, etc)
- analysis of job mismatch
- data sent to Education ministry

Supply
- Education ministry limit intake of courses based on jobs demand input
- Priority to critical, high-demand jobs
- Impose quota students intake to all public/private uni colleges to prevent oversupply
- PTPTN also reduce cost as less students apply for useless unrelated mismatched degrees
- those exceed limit revoke their operating license

Simple n effective solution! 

This is really dumb.

Most of tbose that took those jobs not bcoz they want too, but have to as the limited job market these days.

U are indirectly insulting those people and u are teaching tbose kids to look down on people having those jobs.

Lets even say some of the kids parents do jobs that is listed there, how do u think they will feel? Not only that, maybe get teased by their friends.

Then they should follow some countries where the schools have career counseling before the kids finish school.

HR is the absolute WORST place to find out what kind of jobs you need in the future

FUCK man wtf is our education system pumping out

basically, if all we do is ask HR for what they need, all we get is we need 20 million interns  in the near future

the only way to answer the question what do we need in the future, is to ask the question, what are the key technology/change in workforce IN THE FUTURE

to me, its SUPER DUMB to give out a list of jobs with no future or with a future

what you need to do, is to make sure you have a workforce that is agile and can go from industry to industry, sector to sector, using common sense, law of physics, and critical thinking  on top of IT mastery.

Then the counseling is not the problem, but how they do it.

All honest jobs have a role in society. There is no such thing as 'tiada masa depan' job. This is an extremely wrong mindset that leads to marginalization.

Instead students should be taught to have dignity as long as they work hard at their honest jobs and the rest of society should respect them.

There workers can exploit automation to improve efficiency and earn more pay.

look at engineering grads now - some universities end up creating 'engineering technology' courses
for those with lower qualifications.

lecturers teaching them just for the sake of teaching & KPI to ensure 90% students pass,
else have to answer to the faculty.

these 'engineering' students go out and apply jobs - either not getting any interviews or flunking interviews
because they don't even know what they study in the first place, ask simple fundamental questions also
cannot answer.

those working end up frustrated either because

1. they can't perform in their jobs

2. actually their passion is not engineering but rather MLM

3. salary lower than expectation because employer can offer RM3.5/mth vs. RM5k that they want.

thus resorting them to become food panda rider/grab food rider/grab driver

and afterwards take it to social media saying that they studied mechatronics engineering technology
and now working as food delivery engineer.

adults blame them because they're strawberry generation.

they replied back with 'OK, Boomer'.
