I also got the Beta version of KZ2... I never expect I would be able to get it even...

I never got the Home Beta or Little Big Planet even...

Okay... tried the Beta version, here are my thoughts:-

Killzone 2 Beta so far I have played in my 3 matches only one map. As said before, there is a badge system that unlocks (much like COD4MW) weapons, sidearms and character choices. Right now I am still Private and the game allows you to choose either Helghast or ISA.

You can connect to any server of any country you like (since my account is US PSN), or just connect to your own region and then just connect to any public game you want. Once there, there are 3 modes in each session that is started - Search & Destroy, Capture The Flag and Body Count. It rotates routinely so you have to be fast. 32 players can be in one match. If your broadband is good, no lags.

Gameplay - I have trouble with the controls. The R3 button is accuracy aim instead of L1, which gives me problems with pressing R1 to shoot. Throwing the grenade you need to press either left, down or right keypad for choices or if pre-selected, you just press R2. You can sprint with L3 and to crouch is L2. To jump is X, reload is square while triangle is pretty much change weapon. So far, you can only carry one primary and secondary (sidearm). The feel for me so far is pretty much needed adjustment but it's quite alright I guess if get use to it. The aiming part needed some adjustment I feel because it's pretty much difficult to eliminate some players there. Sometimes you might be piss at some of the gamers with so many shots that player taken he still can run. Oh yeah, there's plenty of recoil so even though you aim so well it's bound to recoil a lot.

Graphics is none other I can say is superb. Although the map is pretty much dark, I am more looking forward to play on day time. The framerate is very smooth but I think Sony needs to adjust the movement properly as when you turn around corners its quite hard to see where you are going. The map design is open to many possibilities that anyone can just turn up. So while you look at the beauty of the graphics, you might not have the amount of time if you were ambushed.

Soundwise is okay... I don't know, to me it just sounds alright.

The Beta version so far will make me come back to play for more. I am sure this game will last so long, especially for 32 player matches and I am using the Maxis Broadband is quite smooth. Looking forward till it's release date on February.

Update:-

Have 5 sessions tonight... there is more than 1 map. Last night the host of the game was doh.gif and only said there's only one map, lead me to believe there's only just one. So there are 3 in total now. Maps can be voted after each session and which map got the majority will play that map.

All 3 maps that I have tried, they are very very good design. Seriously, one map you can camp and have a good sniping shot and nobody can touched you. My clan was totally slaughtered by one guy with his Sniper gun (he rank so fast). For each shot everyone just got headshots. That map alone is quite disadvantage if you have team members that seriously noobs then you are a goner for sure if they can't do defend location mode.

Now since all 3 maps there can be up to 32 players, it can divided into 6 teams if you want. Each team maximum is 4 players and only those who achieve a ranking of 2 can be team leader (which is rather easy to get) to assign your team mates of your choice. You will see a color difference that will identify your teammates. Teammates can score extra points if they work together well and if the team leader is good in his leadership. If the team performs well (say Defend the Location mode), you will gain extra points.

Now, I have to confirm there is lag in the multiplayer. The lag isn't that bad... it's actually if 7 players or more gather in one location, you will see and feel the lag there. There was a clash of teams where everyone starts firing blindly and throwing grenades. And with the graphics intensify, you will have problems aiming and firing your weapon. I was totally slaughtered (again) by ISA. But can't be blame because I am still Private 3rd class.

I am about 99 more points till 100 to be Sargent then I can get my shotgun. Serious pumping action. Can't wait to get it. thumbup.gif

where &how to get the beta version?
*
It's a random pick and Sony send emails to those who can receive them.

Update:-

I am Staff Sergeant 2 and have the ability to heal fallen comrades. Seriously the most disadvantage of the game is which side you are on. If you are more on the majority, the minority will lose. The numbers do take into consideration when it comes to matches. And it can be frustrating if keep on being slaughtered by the numbers.

This game still rocks... and ranking up quite nicely so far... will wait for Engineer Badge - want to set my own turrets...

i think u will get an advantage if using ISA bcoz u can see opponent from far coz of their red eye... laugh.gif
*
You are right! Don't know how many times I see red eyes and I start having kill streaks (as long have enough ammo). I got 8/8 Kill Streak (per match) and got a badge that allows me to get more points on Body Count... woohoo! rclxm9.gif

MYKidd - Sadly there isn't at the moment for BETA. So there is a disadvantage here. But even though then there are many paths to sneak up on the opposition so every path needs to be covered.

I hope these beta badges don't carry over to the final game. That would mean some SERIOUS imbalance issues.
*
It actually does. There is a save file for the profile of your progress... I read in the forum it does carry over to the final game for multiplayer.

But then there is a mode where players can join games equal to their ranks or strength, so that should be alright.

i think it 2nd private class..ya lor...got shot from donno where..suddenly kena shot..dam sniper vmad.gif  mad.gif ...but i realize one of the map is like cod4 map..dont remember which map it is..
*
Well, all 3 maps are very well design with so many openings and anyone can sneak up... problem is have to be fast when each mode keeps changing... I always become the Assassination Target for this mode... always have to find a place to make sure my team mates protect me. Quite hard sometimes if no communication.

2nd Private Class only allows you to form a clan. Once you reach Private 3rd Class you get your Shotgun and Sub-Machine gun... so keep working hard bro...

Being Medic isn't fun... only allows you two primary weapon choices to choose... but being a medic have unlimited heal... when healing like electrocute your teammate... chuckle... if keep healing normally, can get health pack... right now can't heal yourself unless you win 5 matches of healing then can get to heal yourself...

Omg,another video. The more I look at it the more I want it now. Wow, it looks amazing.
*
Ah, this map is quite small but many possible ambush attacks there. When the video first started, you are Helghast on this side of the map, which is a disadvantage as ISA can snipe very well... even using Assault Rifle can kill the opposition...

But he is alone there... no action at all... hmmm... I want to record mine... but don't know how...

Guys, it will take time to even level up the badges even. Although win points in terms of the matches (especially in Warzone), it's who gets to do what to win the badges seriously. Took me a while to get my Engineer Badge. Have to search and destroy 8 times on both sides putting both bombs in order to get it. That's one match at a time in Warzone.

Still, having all 32 players to play is going to be chaotic... So have fun deciding what to get.
