Is it possible to steal or sell ASM3 units without registered owner permission ? Are the units safe if owned by old uneducated person. A relative passed away and family cannot find any documents regarding the units. Ask here first because PNB office only open Monday

The deceased was influenced to use identity cop/stamp instead of signature. The suspect may be able to do online transaction because he has access to her ic statements etc. Bad news possible on Monday. Quite a substantial amount involved. Kept for 10 years .

nope, not possible. u will need letter of administration / probate / will to execute any transactions on behalf of the deceased
then the person who did that must be ridiculously stupid

any transactions recorded AFTER the deceased died, will be flagged as suspicious and there will be trails. at most the person can do is to transfer the units to his / her accounts or someone elese account, then withdraw it

he / she cant withdraw directly from the deceased account online, or offline

good luck

and condolences

No I meant the units could be stolen while the deceased was still alive but other relatives only realized after her death.

ah... good luck then

if indeed the units are withdrawn or transferred, how are u goign to proof that it's stolen?

the suspect might just claimed the deceased gave it to him

She would never sell her ASM3 because it pays double what her other FD pays. She met accident and died suddenly so no way it was given willingly. She was quite proud the units have doubled in 10 years and said so 3 days before her death.

If cheated before death, nothing much can be done. It'll be he says she says.

All one needs to do is bring her to the bank to transfer or sell, or online.

Do I need to check with Maybank where it was bought or PNB head office?
