If your concern is 2% or $2, very easy. You can :
1. spend it by paying water bill, parking, Unify, mobile phone service provider

2. top up $1470 with your credit card 1 day after your statement date. Cash out $1498 immediately. FD or ASN the $1498. You have about 50 days to pay your credit card. The FD should earn you $3 at 2.95% p.a. in 50 days and ASN even more.

i dont have such luxury to have parents open such high yield fund for me. so i dont know.

what i'm sure is that you dont have to sell off your stake. I think I've read that it's automagically converted to adult account once you're 18. I tried doing some websearch but couldn't find an answer.
