Just spoke to the ASNB officer, 2-4 are not required if you have PA with ASNB.

As a matter of fact, claiming inheritance with Letter of Probate (with Will) or Letter of Admin (without Will) will take much longer time.

my 2-cent: Besides, when you think the ASNB claiming fee is high, please cross check with your lawyer / Will consultant the legal cost to get Letter of Probate or Letter of Admin.

Add on:Small Estates(Distribution) Act, 1955 could be a cheaper way  to claim the inheritance (Estate below 2m; without lawyer). But it will definitely take longer time than PA with ASNB.

Hehe thanks Mike3. Yes indeed when kena and can get it, the feeling is so nice. Now I have been trying this morning, only got RM1 for ASM1. I am a Malaysian Indian, last time Najib gave RM30k AS1M (now ASM3) allocation for Indians, I invested, but had to take out last year due to emergency, now I read that they did away with the quota redy coz poor takeup by Indians. So now hard to get.
Just wondering, for ASM1,2,3 is there racial quota? Like they allow only 50% of ASM1 to be bought by Chinese and indians etc? Or is it free for all?

In line with expectations I think - better than last year but no higher than ASB1. The door is now just open for ASM2, ASM3 to  declare 5.0% but I suspect it will be 4.75%.

Managed to buy ASM1 for RM10k today. Look like a lot fund heading to share market.
 

I think most people buy ASM ASB FP funds for the long term. Losing a month’s interest is obviously best avoided if possible but sometimes you have to grab opportunity while it is there.

Earlier this year I switched a fair amount of funds from ASM3 to ASB3. ASB3 gives 0.5% better rate but because ASB3 declares its dividend at the end of June and ASM3 at the end September, I missed out on 3 months interest this year but it should be more than worth it in the mid to longer term.

Has anyone done the calculation.

Say for the same amount of investment, invest on 1 Jan 2024 & withdraw on 1 Jan 2025.

Option A: invest in ASM (assume 5% interest for this period)
Option B: invest in another one with daily interest of 2%

Which will get better yield?
