I think a modest rise in Bank rate is not far away at all. This will be good news for net savers but not so good for net borrowers.

Do you mean with rise in Bank rate, the fixed income from PNB may increase in tandem too?

Officially that is anyone's guess but I have been told, by someone who should know, that there is a correlation (albeit not 100%) between Bank Rate (OPR) and PNB dividends. It makes sense. If OPR goes up then all other bank rates (including FD) go up and PNB needs to remain considerably more competitive than FD due to the different risk exposures - Low for PNB v Nil for FD.

That is true everywhere, unfortunately. That is why Warren Buffet's first investment advice is to always begin by clearing or reducing debt.

I also like his observation on saving/investing: 'Most people save or invest their salary only after they have finished their monthly spending. It is far better to spend your monthly salary only when you have finished saving/investing it!'

In other words, discipline ourselves to invest a certain % of monthly salary every month and live off what is left. It isn't always easy but it is very good advice.

It doesn't matter how much you are earning

How much you are saving, most importantly investing and make money work for you when you are sleeping is important

QUOTE
Unable to do provision at the moment. Please try again. (PROVFPX)

Randomly get this once in awhile today in between the usual 068 (no available unit) and 1001 (max attempt reached) errors

Previous reject codes 075, 1017 and the usual 1001
