As a moderate gamer, i avoid charging the phone during intense gaming session in order to keep the phone battery health at it best. But my iphone mainly dedicated for gaming purpose only and the health at 87% after close to 2 years of usage.

XS Max. Slightly over a year old, battery at 99%.

I use neither an "ori" cable or an "ori" charger.

Charger at home is a four port Remax charger that I think outputs 2A. Coupled with an auto-disconnect cable.

Sometimes I use a wireless pad connected to a QC head.

During longer drives, or when my phone needs charging, I connect it to my in-car charger.

I also use a powerbank when the battery is low.

At the office, it alternates between a wireless charger, or a slow charger (I partially lied, this is the only "ori" head that I use).

I don't stress myself out with battery life too much. Charge when needed. I usually plug it in to a charger when battery drops below 80. Though sometimes I'll only remember to charge right before I sleep...when the battery is under 40%.

Don't stress out over your battery too much. The device is meant to be used.

PS: I use a combination of things in your poll. Only thing I rarely use is the quick charge, since I hardly have need for it.

I practice 30-80% rule but I prefer to charge it at around 50% and it takes about 45minutes to reach 70+%. Always charge my iPhone X in airplane mode. Do not use phone while charging. I only use original cable and charger. Battery health is 99%.

I used to charge it to 100%, but when reviews recommended the 30-80% rule. I don’t charge the phone to 100% anymore. I also find this rule friendly as I don’t have to charge my phone longer in airplane mode.

I think there’s a problem with either the battery, or how it logs it. Many Xs owners have reported horrible battery life in the thread. So I don’t think it’s your usage...but rather just how the battery behaves

Depends how much of the battery is left. I charge it when it’s below 60%, if above 60% then I’ll charge it the next day - that’s how much faith I have in the battery of the 11 Pro Max biggrin.gif

I try to charge when I see it drop below 80%. Not a hard rule. If I'm at my desk (office) and I notice it's dropped quite low, I'll just plug it in. Sometimes I forget, in which case I have an app on the watch (battery phone) that buzzes me when battery drops below 40%. At which case I will usually find a power source

Same. I used to not need to charge my phone at the office (unless I'm actually not doing much work then I'm on the phone more laugh.gif). Nowadays, I find more need to charge the phone midway through the day.

Not too sure on that I'm afraid. You could check on the main thread. Maybe someone with a Xs can help you there. I know someone managed to claim warranty for their XS Max for some battery issue.

Last time using iPhone 7, battery health doesn't drop so easily even didn't take a care of it.

Now using iPhone XS, battery drops nonetheless. My 4 months old iPhone XS already rated at 97%.

mainly use the included 5W charger at home, sometimes charge overnight to 100%

at office most of the time use wireless charger, and sometimes use fast charge from powerbank

after 6months, battery is still at 100%

What I heard was AASP can’t service iPhone under warranty(need to send to Apple to replace/service), they have limitation on what they can service.

You must make the right choice on choosing 3rd party service center(3rd party don’t have original parts).... my experience with 3rd party service(at least the one I went to) quality isn’t good at all, 6 months then the battery cannot use at all and cause unexpected shutdown when unplug from wall power.

There was this review/research on how to take care of your iPhone battery. It’s by keeping your battery charge between 30-80%. Also recommended to carry a battery bank when you want to follow that review if you are a heavy user. Apparently, it extend the battery health according to the review. My iPhone X this December will be 2 years old.

iPhone XS Max, one year old still 100%.

- charge between 20% - 95%
- rarely charge overnight, but if I need to i always put on top of laptop cooler pad
- use waze always use the phone holder that holds your phone infront of the aircond vent to prevent overheating
- take off case when gaming

usually iPhone in malaysia battery degrades faster due to our climate situation, Apple says iPhone ideal working temperature is capped at 35 degrees.

Just charge it whenever u need it to be charged.

The phone is there to serve u, not the other way around.

My battery is 97% now, after almost using it for one year. I charge it whenever i like, few times (at least 3-5 times) a day.

charger doesnt really matter. the voltage/amp is regulated by your phone..
its the cable
learned a lesson with this. even stock cable
get a usb tester to check all cables. you be suprised. i had one cable.. couldnt charge my ipad mini 2/6th gen/pro properly but no issue on my x/7plus/7/xs max/11 pro/11 pro max. then checked with usb tester. the amps/voltage was inconsistent compared to a newer or other cables..
so afaik this might affect the phone

get a usb tester to check all cables. you be suprised. i had one cable.. couldnt charge my ipad mini 2/6th gen/pro properly but no issue on my x/7plus/7/xs max/11 pro/11 pro max. then checked with usb tester. the amps/voltage was inconsistent compared to a newer or other cables..
so afaik this might affect the phone

I used to use rm3 cable, the battery terus spoil after few days. Now Im using ugreen lightning cable for my new phone, should be fine?

need help here.

i was a heavy mobile legends player and my battery health was 92% when i last played the game. since then i’ve quit the game.

so now i don’t play games anymore, but my battery health continues to drop, even faster when i was a mobile game player. now it’s 86% (i quit the game not even a month ago)

should i get it replaced or is there any way to set this? the only thing i’ve been using constantly now is netflix, which i doubt will drain my battery in this such manner.

Best to stick to original stock 10W charger as opposed to 18W quick charger.

Will definitely have adverse effect on your battery life later on.

The 18w is actually the fast charger for the phone, people are for some reason demanding fast charger bundled in the box for their phones for some reason instead of making it option like with the iPhone 8-11 ....

I got my phone 11pro on 7.11 with 100% of battery health as of now whilst a friend of mine got hers on the 13th where her battery health already decrease to 98% currently. I guess the battery health decrement is according to phone usage and also charging habit.

Some of that are myths.

The only reliable are, don't charge while using your phone. and charge your phone in a air circulated area, so it is not overheat.

Others said, don't charge your phone overnight or too long are myths. Our phone battery have the sensor of saying it is full and it will cut off the charge.

But some may say that, don't use up your batt to 0% as it will tick a counter. so the batt life will -1. Nobody has proven that is true or not.

Just got the iPhone about 2 weeks back. This time I intend to try keeping my charge to only once a day unless it has dropped to critical levels (10-20%) when I still need to stay out.

Previously used to keep it charged whenever I can haha.

I charge once daily too. And switches it off once in awhile to let the batt "rest". not sure if it helps.

My experience is no matter which way I tried, after 2-3 years, the battery will still drain very fast. It seems battery life will become bad normally after 2-3 years.

But I believe is important to charge with original charger than using some third party or unknown charger to avoid quick damage on the battery.

My charging routine

After work and back home normally I left 30-50%.. and I charge my phone while I’m bath / dinner.. then unplug and I charge overnight during my sleep time...

In using 2nd hand iPhone X , 90% battery health ( from this March ) until now 89%

Guys, Please stop worrying about battery health too much. It will degrade no matter what. Just enjoy the phone as it is. Just follow what is written on the Apple website and it should degrade as how it's supposed to.

Exactly, like I mentioned before, it will degrade sooner or later, normally 2-3 years the battery will drain out very fast no matter how you protect previously.

mine still 100% from 2 months ago, no special care anything, just use normally as i didnt really care bout battery health.

just fyi my usage pattern:

1) no or sometime quick calls/gaming during charging.
2) when i at home or at office, i will charge my phone even the battery still shows 70-90% when i have the chance. i like it to be full always.
3) I never let my phone died due to no power. using 3utools, my battery still 0 charge times.
4) I seldom clear all apps. very seldom unless the app is buggy or hangs.
5) On some occasion i always use low power mode. like during working as u din use the phone much.
6) I charge my phone using MFI cables and cap ayam cable for my powerbank. and i din use apple adapter, i use ldnio plug outlet that also got usb port (fast charging)

i think thats all i can share with u. other ppl might have their own way.

one thing u have to understand is battery wear. the lower your battery percentage left, the greater wear your battery will receive when charging to full. no need to worry of continous charging when full. that just trickle charge which to maintain 100% charge.

If changed battery, probably can extend for another 1-2 years, depend on battery condition.
see you wan stick to old phone or get a new phone with new IOS version.

PS: old iphone IOS only can upgrade until certain version.

my mum phone is worse.

She use the iPhone 11 Pro bought at launch day. yesterday when I check her phone, her phone battery health is at 91%.

She bought it at Celcom under contract, how can I claim warranty? Can I straight send to Machine?
*
what warranty? by Apple definitions; the battery is only deem as defective/faulty if health drop to <80% within its warranty period. so i guess you just have to wait.

why charge when it drops below 50%? if i charge before it hit 50%, am i charging too frequently? is it bad for the health?

Agree. Approximately ~2 years just change new battery and make sure under ASP. As iphone cycle far more than 3-5 years so its better just spend some $$ for new battery if you dont want spend more buying new iphone.

Mine since December 2018. Xs Max currently battery health is 98%. Mostly I’ll charge my phone whenever possible and charge whenever at lower temp rather than hot temperature as it will slow down the charging hence causes the battery life span shorten. I don’t do overnight charging cause in my POV, it’s bad for the phone

I’m using fast charging capable cable and charger only.

Thought I chip in....IP11 bought in September 2019. As of now still 100%.

My charging habit is to charge between 50% to 80%. Sometimes slightly above 85% if I'm unable to monitor. Normal usage for the phone, I don't play games.

So you'll never charge your phone to 100%? Still no clear evidence on properly protecting battery life...lol

Would you all recommend keeping phone plugged in to charger when using for extended periods of time (eg watching shows on phone)?

Still trying to figure out what's the best way to protect battery life too...lolz

It is hard to tell from battery percentage alone, just take it as a rough indicator. When my XR is 7 months old, battery health is still 100%. From jailbreak battery tweaks, at that time the battery already has 200 charge cycles, yet battery health still 100%! In less than a month after that the battery health drops to 97%. Now the phone is 1y5m old battery health at 93%. I don't have jailbreak now. Based on my use pattern I think the battery should have gone through 500 charge cycles already. Day to day use the battery life still feel the same so it is all good.

Try 3utools if you're on PC or coconutbattery if you're on mac. Can get exact capacity in mAh

Good to know. That software really has many features. Install iOS update, restore, check the device's parts if it's original to the motherboard, etc

I had this issue on my iPhone 8 too, but what I did was to reset all the content and settings and restored it back from the backup, and boom, the battery life comes back to how it is supposed to be.

Now I am a happy user or iOS14.

Im usually getting from ebay. Rule is simple - dont get cheapest. Its not like im looking battery for 50 quid, but im not going for 7 $ deals. 15 - 20 quid for battery is ok. I changed batteries for myself and many friends and none of them ever had issues.

otherwise you cant unless can prove battery drain more than usual, like really significant
