Lol..Just call Digi and cancel my application. Going to have wired broadband installed next week by a condo broadband provider. Edge just too slow for me.
@ allright tall
I use neteagle and tcp optimizer to improve the speed. Try the following setting..Install Neteagle and choose DSL/ASDL modem setting and if you look at TCP optimizer you setting would be as follows:-
TCP Receive window =372300
MTU =yes
Black Hole = No
Selective ACKs =yes
Max Duplicate =2
Time to Live =128
MTU =1500
Max connection =8
Max connectionper1 =10
local priority =5
host priority =6
dns priority =7
netbt priority =8
lan browsing speedup =optimized

I find the speed improve . Try it and let me know.

As far as i know Digi does not block BT, but only local peers allow, the speed is painfully slow.

Just dun trust the speed test result of tcp optimiser . what i means is all preset setting under tcp optimiser does not improve your speed . but it will show you the changes in your setting when you change the setting using other software like neteagle . another way is use manual function under tcp to key in the setting you prefer. try choose dsl modem under neteagle . after that open tcp optimiser and you would see your setting change. restart your pc and check your speed with speedtest or other website .

For those who think to substitute their streamyx with this package better think twice as you would find the speed unbearable. However for those who want to buy a notebook in interest free installment and treat the data as a bonus, this plan is quite attractive.smile.gif Just got my wired broadband and compared with the edge i had been using for almost a year, the feeling is like breaking free...

can u give instruction in more detail?..i dont understand a little bit...

where to find "modem link" in ipaq?

what is the configuration to setup the dial up...tq
*
Okie i have not use ipaq phone b4 but i presume it should be the same for se phone. When you plug in your phone with your usb cable do you realise that windows mentions new hardware detected, ipaq modem etc... If that is the case just go to control panel>phone and modem option> you should see your ipaq modem is there. Try to select your modem and click on the properties icon. Try to dianogse to see if the modem is responsive. Now go to network connection>create new connection>connect to internet>set up my connection manually>connect using dialup modem>ISP is diginet>phone number is *99# or *99****1#>APN = diginet, useid = guest, password = guest.

Thamk u all for the info. This offer is very tempting.Especially for ppl who had a lot of commitment.Gotta check out the best offer for RAM.If buy RAM directly frm HP ,is itpossible?
*
Better buy direct from HP dealer and you can get it from mobility square in lowyat. Try to get the same brand of ram from them as i had experience conflict using other brand ( kingston if not mistaken ). You can purchase you extended warranty from them too. I got 3 years warranty at the price of RM 300. ( okie what happen to my original one year free warranty , shouldn't i get 4 years then , got to ask HP ) and 512kB ram at RM 200. You definitely need extra rams. cry.gif

hey....anyone out there know what is the best way to have a fast internet speed??

i think i need to buy modem like samba to speed up my internet, so i can fully utilize it...ehehehehe...

this edge suck using ipaq..speed is far from normal...can use to surf but not to play online game... tongue.gif
*
Yup i had tried all the tweak but to not much use. The truth is edge speed is slow and unstable. The data feed is inconsistant. So i believe it is almost impossible to play online game no matter what modem you use. Dun waste the money. cry.gif

i am using a nokia 6230i to connect, and mind you this device is one of the fastest in its class ( even a moto v6 which is of a class 32 register the same bandwidth as hav been tested b4)

my area register 24kB/s during BT-ing but only abt 20kB/s on normal surfing.........

anyway i am looking to upgrade to celcom 3.5G ( max out at 1.8Mb/s in most HSDPA area ) very soon rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

Yup if digi still dun get better speed their edge service will die out and may be that is the reason for this promotion! Luckily i cancel my subscription and now i am surfing at 8 to 10 times edge speed. tongue.gif

Hello everybody,

Been reading all the posting from you guys .. and I must said .. I had gotten a lot of useful information from this forum. Good work guys!!  smile.gif

Actually, I am interested in the RM149 package. I have to be very honest, I am more attracted by the HP 520 laptop then the EDGE unlimited.

However, after reading through all the posting, I really wonder whether I should get this package just for the HP laptop, and stuck with the low bandwidth for 2 years ....

Thus, I sincerely hope that you good people out there can help to enlighten me to make a wise decision.  wink.gif

Here are my questions:

1) Has anyone connected to the internet using the EDGE (samba) modem provided (from the RM149 plan)? What is the speed like? I am asking this because most guys are using their mobile phone to connect. It seems no one had commented on this modem ....

2) How is the HP 520 laptop performance? Is it slow without any memory (RAM) upgrade? What would be the ideal addition RAM to add? Another 512MB, 1GB or 1.5GB?

3) How is the Vista home edition like? Is it workable? Or, we will need to reinstall the full version or Windows XP Pro in order to do other stuffs beside just home use and net-surfing?

4) Is there anybody using EDGE to do BT downloading? What kind of download speed can you achieve through EDGE? Does it take forever to download a movie?

5) Is there anyone in Kepong area who is using EDGE? I am at Desa Aman Puri, Kepong. If someone can tell me how is the speed like around Kepong area would be great!!  smile.gif

Thanking everybody in advance.

Best regards,

Alvin

Okie Alvin i am staying next door in wangsa permai. Well I had been using digi edge (prepaid but pay RM149 for unlimited) for the last 6 months. As i said before, if you really have no choice only you go for digi edge and comes today i believe edge as for surfing is seriously outdated technology and no matter what modem you use, you will still have slow and inconsistant data feed. If you have to stay in an apartment in aman puri, go to your management and ask for any private broadband provider and i am currently using Mykris at RM 88/ month unlimited no trottle for BT also and you get 120kB/s of BT maximum. As for digi if you are really lucky you get 20 kB/s. Another choice is get a streamyx if you still want to deal with TM icon_rolleyes.gif

As for the notebook and HP handphone, I believe now even you go to Hypermarket you can get 12 months free interest for any electronic product you buy and there are plenty of interest free scheme nowaday as compared to last time. The HP handphone is not really useful if you already say have a se or nokia phone. Any way think again. whistling.gif

I actually subscribe to this service and cancel it. Thinking back, i actually made a right decision.

Hi CY,

Thank you so much for the reply and info. I really appreciate it.  tongue.gif

I had just called up Mykris. Unfortunately, there is no coverage at the apartment that I am staying, i.e. Perdana Puri. At first, I thought they were using wireless technology. However, I was told they are using fixed line. The wireless solutions are for the corporate users. In order to provide the service, they will need to install some equipments in the apartment building, which I think will unlikely to happen.  sad.gif  Lucky you, CY! Am so envy ...  smile.gif

I had called up the apartment management office, sad to say, there is only streamyx available at our apartment. I had very bad experience with streamyx in our office. Thus, had never considered streamyx as my private broadband solution.

Um, CY .. are you using the fixed line solution from Mykris, or the wireless? Care to share with us?

Thank you and regards,

Alvin
*
Actually Mykris is using wireless solution NOT fixed line by TM. What they do is they would set up a wireless station at the top of apartment and there would be router or what not ...than they would pull down cables, add switches and connect to each apartment that requires their service. What i do is just plug in the cable to my laptop and i am online just like streamyx. No dial-up, and you wish to share the line with other pc at your home just buy a router be wired or wireless. The speed is good and stable as shown below. Previously when i used digi edge, i would have to bring my laptop to Starbuck to download heavy stuff or doing windows update, and bt is taking like months to download a movie, with my current line, i have download more than 10 movies with daily usage up to 2 gig per day, looking at the fact that i only use it at night when i back from work. I believe another choice is Jaring wireless, but they charge you one lumpsump of 2K/2years (rediculous!). Anyway i still think that standalone wireless modem is still inferior compared to fixed line or wireless station based solution like Mykris.

smile.gif thats the different location "free time slots" cause the connection. This issue ain't your phone or edge device. happy.gif

I've tested two different day & time at DiGi CS place (SS2 branch), both about 160kbps average. smile.gif

I'm quite satisfied with the speed as I bought Jaring 512kbps Wireless(SOMA) home, also around that speed.  sweat.gif
(But its big device..while DiGi just mobile phone whistling.gif)

Try to install neteagle and SC net speed booster and try out different setting and you may improve your speed. Default windows TCP setting is not suitable for edge connection but more for broadband connection like streamyx. blush.gif

Need some help here....

I'm looking to get an internet access at my area (without telekom service) and Digi's package is my first choice. But was told that it will take 3 weeks to process, where i need the internet connection urgently. Any idea where I can make the process faster, e.g. pay up the whole lump sump, register at their HQ, etc? Thx
*
If you need internet access urgently and dun mind to pay high price, why not just buy a prepaid simcard and top up RM 150.00 and you can use unlimited access for a month. But it actually follow calender and if you use now is really not worth it. If you can wait, just wait till beginning of the month and top up and use. It is good for you as you can test how "GOOD" the speed you get from edge. To me now it is too slow.
