There's no "right" answer to whether circumcision plays a significant role in preventing STDs - there are two sides to the story
QUOTE Longitudinal studies. The Dunedin study of a cohort of New Zealand children born in 1972. This cohort, who are now adults, have been studied since birth. The males in the group included both non-circumcised and circumcised male. 201 or 40.3 percent were circumcised. The Dickson et al. found no relationship between circumcision status and HPV infection. in that cohort15 In a second study of that cohort through age 32, Dickson et al. found more STDs in circumcised men although the difference was not statistically significant.17 There were 24.4 STD infections per 1000 person-years among the circumcised group and 23.4 STD infections per 1000 person-years among the non-circumcised group. Non-circumcision, therefore, appeared to confer some slight degree of protection in that cohort of New Zealand men.16 Cross-sectional studies. Cross-sectional studies have been carried out in the United States,9 the United Kingdom,14 and Australia16 to determine the effects of circumcision upon STDs. All studies have found no significant effect of circumcision on the incidence of STD. Laumann et al. reported that circumcised men are slightly more likely to have both a bacterial and a viral STD in their lifetime.9 The British National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles reported that circumcised males have slightly more STDs but the difference was not judged to be statistically significant.14 Richters et al. found that non-circumcised men are slightly more likely to have penile candidiasis (yeast).17 Sauce: http://www.cirp.org/library/disease/STD/ |

She is actually partly right.. the foreskin is there to help produce a "gliding sensation" .. something that's gone permanently once you circumcise.
For hygiene purposes.. can't you just spend some time washing it once in a while? Just because you have to wash your hair doesn't mean you shave it all off right? This post has been edited by Leto Kynes: Nov 19 2008, 04:55 PM |

QUOTE(DeRossi @ Nov 19 2008, 11:30 PM) Just an example.. I'm just saying that "cleanliness" is a bad argument because you can just spend like an extra second or two in the bathroom cleaning yourself properly instead of snipping the whole thing off |

QUOTE(mic747eal @ Dec 7 2008, 11:31 PM) There are stretching techniques you can use to help "loosen" the skin.I believe you can seek help here: http://www.restoreforeskin.org/forums/disp...osis-treatment/ It is a thread specifically for treating phimosis with alternative methods. One of the links they provided there is a manual stretch you can do: http://pages.suddenlink.net/manual_methods/phimosis.html Circumcision should only be a last resort More info here too: http://ehealthforum.com/health/phimosis-ti...nt-t156168.html And from Wikipedia:- QUOTE High rates of success have been reported with several nonsurgical measures: For the steroid cream I believe you will first need a prescription from a doctor.* Application of topical steroid cream for 4-6 weeks to the narrow part of the foreskin is relatively simple and less expensive than surgical treatments.[9] It has replaced circumcision as the preferred treatment method for some physicians in the U.K. National Health Service.[16][17] * Stretching of the foreskin can be accomplished manually. Skin that is under tension expands by growing additional cells. A permanent increase in size occurs by gentle stretching over a period of time. The treatment is non-traumatic and non-destructive. Manual stretching may be carried out without the aid of a medical doctor. The stretching can also be accomplished with balloons placed under the foreskin skin under anaesthesia,[18]or with a tool.[19] The tissue expansion promotes the growth of new skin cells to permanently expand the narrow preputial ring that prevents retraction. QUOTE(steven.7676 @ Dec 9 2008, 04:27 PM) all member who have circumcised most of the reason to circumcised are due to cleanliness. does your decision to circumcised is make by yourself or your family. does your girlfriend encouraged you to go circumcised and what their reason. It was probably made by their family for most people.I think it'd be more fair for someone to decide by themselves once they're old enough |

QUOTE(matt_1712 @ Dec 16 2008, 06:36 PM) hi guys. i just had circumcision 3 weeks ago and nearly all the stitches are off. however, when i have an erection, i feel that i cannot get to maximum length because the stitching scars are a bit tight. is that normal? I'd give some time for all the stitches to come off.If it still feels tight after that, then they might have cut off a little too much of your foreskin - you can solve that by stretching what's left (later on) |

QUOTE(Crazy Assassin @ Jan 9 2009, 04:50 PM) Hey....i just had circumcision last 2 weeks. May i know how long does it take for the stictches to go away ?? Start using some skin scar cream (e.g. Mederma) so early so that the scar won't be so bad later on.And my d*** looks ugly. Theres a bumpy ring (wound) right after my penis head. Will that bump go away or become less bumpy ?? btw my operation cost me rm400 Of course, consult your doc. first |
