Please share your experience on the performance of Unifi mobile 4G. Especially when they are riding on the Celcom network (4G, 3G, 2G). Do share the 3G experience too.

I personally think that this is only applicable for certain area and MOST DEFINITELY not in Klang Valley.

Here is how I tested it on my Samsung phone.

1. Dial *#2263 to enter band management. Disable Band 5, 38, 40.
2. Dial *#0011# to enter band monitoring. After disabling all 3 bands, it is now connected to Celcom 3G instead. It showed WCDMA 2100 and H+.

I can say for certain Band 5 sucksssssssss, even when outdoors. I thought the stronger signal would result in better speed versus Band 38/40 but I was so so wrong. If you can get Band 38/40, then it is still acceptable especially on Band 40. Band 5 was totally useless indoors with my speedtest in Jinjang Utara showing 3xx Kbps... worse than StreamyX back then.

Im mostly in Kepong. Im just got my Bebas sim few days ago to see if its viable to sign up for the RM59 offer. I was tempted because I just got Unifi Air for my office in KIP and honestly for RM79, I had nothing to complain since we are paying RM99 for 1Mbps and now its between 20-45Mbps.

From personal experience, Unifi mobile coverage is terrible. I'm living in Kota Damansara, travel around PJ/KL area and the 4G connection is not reliable.

Sometimes I can get amazing speed and connection, and sometimes there is no 4G signal at all. Now I just use it as my secondary SIM.

My main SIM, which is Tunetalk, has no issue at all with 4G. Both Tunetalk and Unifi claim to be using Celcom network too.

4g coverage is horrible here, can still get 3g even in the city centre.
The speed is predictably bad too, I regret using it

Now searching for a better telco

Me too. I like to use Unifi as I still have lots of free 4G data left from the allocated free 20GB, but the connection is not stable.
Like tonight I drove on Plus Highway Nilai to Sg Besi. I used my phone as hotspot in the car The 4G kept disconnecting and I had to search it manually and get it reconnected multiple times. There are areas that the connection is stable. If I didn't do the manual searching, it'd take ages for 3G to change to 4G if ever. Tunetalk is much better in that regards.

For my area it is terribly slow. Barely 4-5 Mbps. Even reception is poor resulting in poor voice call quality. Even with Volte.

So far I experienced only one area where speeds are incredibly fast which is in Cheras, Sri Permaisuri. But I don't live there anymore so is worthless to me.

Been using unifi 99 mobile for months now, 95% of time will get LTE. I live in puchong condo mid level, still can get LTE, watch movie online everyday never stuck. Same thing at office in PJ, manage to get LTE all the time. Tried at both my hometown (east coast area) still get LTE and at hubby's, sometimes I get 3G but very rare. Before this I used umobile, quite frequent I got no service at hubby's hometown.

UMobile can use or cannot in your area..
That's the main question...

If okay. Then UM is the best..
If not, even cheaper no use is cannot utilize the services paid 😅

been using for about a month now. So far I am happy with the coverage with speed. Not the best but it's acceptable.

In Kepong:

4G coverage no problem. Good

In Genting:

4G coverage not so strong. Sometimes dropped to H+ but still can go online.

In Ipoh:

4G coverage is constant in most town areas. In kampung areas, it depends, if you are at the kampung town, there's line, if move further than that it's H+, it's pretty slow at times when you are connected to H+

In Shah Alam:

Coverage is good. Most of the places is 4G. No complaints about that.

Here is the speedtest for Unifi Mobile Unlimited 59 after exceed 100GB usage

user posted image

Here is the hotspot speedtest for the same moment using tablet.

Can confirm saying speed cap is real and TM will never admit it.

Will see tomorrow speedtest for my main phone. If exceed 20Mbps then confirm. The problem is how much usage will they start speed cap? Some said 30GB.

So the capped speed is for mobile data instead of hotspot.

Because hotspot has 10GB quota so they dont mind give you high speed.
Now my speed is back to normal with 20Mbps after new billing cycle.
Will monitor how much they start cap speed again after certain usage.

Afaik, the TM Unifi Mobile RM59 promo first began from Nov 2019 until 31 Dec and then extended to 31 March 2020. I think what Khuan0813 meant was that after the RM59 promo period ends on 31 March 2020, the price for newly subscribed phone plans post-31 March will go back to RM99 per month.

Sorry no offense. But so far I am not seeing anybody recommend Unifi Mobile.
There are up to 10 telcos on the market, and I am not so rich to try them one by one.
I prefer those with high speed and high coverage. Thanks hehe

So far so good. Consistent 4G coverage and quite fast too, calls are good too. Will slow down on 3G coverage but only occasional on remote areas

For me highly recommended! I go mostly outdoors and I find the coverage is OK. Can uselah without much interruption. If you are OK with speeds between 5Mbps to 20Mbps then this is the plan for you.

Same network different usage.
Air is only for broadband without call/sms.

Went to unifi store. They said unifi air using different band. Checked inside their website, seem like coverage for unifi air is limited compared to unifi mobile

Some branch said same, some branch said different.
Could be tm unifi air maps is only green when your area has both band 5 & band 38 signal as full bar.

Unifi mobile is primarily advertised to use band 5. Since band 5 coverage is wider, so unifi mobile maps should cover more area as well.

Please share your experience on the performance of Unifi mobile 4G. Especially when they are riding on the Celcom network (4G, 3G, 2G). Do share the 3G experience too.
