Hi All,

Would like to ask what router that TM will be provided for 100Mbps packages?

Because my existing Dlink DIR842 router got problem with the Wifi, cannot load the webpage, speed test also speed cut and stop halfway, only can be using with LAN cable connection (can get full speed without interruption).
I had reset the whole router, also same condition.

I have contacted TM via apps, the officer helped to re-flash the port, also cannot work. So they agreed that most likely is the router got problem. Unfortunately, the warranty has been over, the officer said can either renew the package to get a new router or buy a new router with them.

that is why would like check with you all what router that TM will be provided for 100Mbps package. And also whether is possible to upgrade the router with better option with paying additional to them.

thanks

At the moment most people get Netis dl4480, which is a joke of a router...
Don't get routers from TM, buy your own.
*
If that is the case, maybe just use the Unifi router with LAN connection and add on a better AP.

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Mar 25 2020, 12:26 PM)
It is possible to get the Deco P9 from them, if you pay extra. However, I would strongly recommend that you get your own router, and I recommend Asus. Don't bother getting a new one from them.
*
Asus is a great router more also slightly higher price, at the moment is thinking for Tplink A9, C80 and AX10.
The review for A9 is quite good and speed in long distance also not bad.

QUOTE(akaneikegami @ Mar 25 2020, 02:49 PM)
surprisingly, i bought a linksys router costing me RM700+ but somehow speed is lower than the tp-link which Unifi has provided for free.  bangwall.gif
have yet to figure out why.
*
With 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz connection?
btw, what is the Tplink model that Unifi given?

That's not a modem, that's a router
Nothing you can do with stock router. Lots of limitation has been put on TM's new router
No. If you update the firmware from D-Link site, you will lose the UniFi VLAN configuration and you will never be able to use that router with UniFi again

You should not have requested a replacement router from TM. If your UniFi account is more than 1 year, you've extended the contract even further by getting a free replacement router from TM
Well unless you specifically bought the router itself from TM, then your UniFi contract won't be extended, but still not a good decision

Should've bought a 3rd party router instead
*
means the TM stock Dlink DIR842 can be work with Dlink 3.10 firmware?

I saw online article the can use TPlink Easy Smart Switch for the VLAN connection, so that you can use any router without VLAN function.

You can read the link below:

Make any router work on Unifi with TP-Link Easy Smart Switch

Notice that the TIME did not use VLAN, so can use XiaoMi router directly, But TM and Maxis required VLAN

I don't know and I don't care
All stock routers provided by TM/Maxis/Time Fiber is crap anyway
*
Honestly, the one they provided to me (Dlink DIR842) really not lasting, just about 16 months, already has problem.

I have called TM for renew my contract to get a new, during that time, the TM officer can tell what my current router setting status as well (He knew that I have switch off the 2.4Ghz wifi signal). Means the stock TM firmware can be accessed by TM technician.

The ASUS RT-AC66U B1 is only RM325 and it's way better than anything TM can provide to you

*
Bros, no budgetary, MCO keeps extended....
Temporary use the TM router first, after that only change, actually saving my budget now for Tplink AX50 at end of the year, is that a good choice?

TP-Link AX50 reception not stable as Asus router. The stock router you're using better login to the router administrator page and disable the TR069 port. They can monitor our usage and "privacy" is a big concern for consumer.
*
I see, I thought TPlink has improved because read some reviews and they are good feedback.

May I know how to disable the TR069 port?
I have gone through all pages, but cannot find this... The port forwarding page is nothing too...
That is why if possible, I will flash the firmware to Dlink global 3.10 version.

Thanks.

Only stock router has this feature. Third-party routers don't have. As mentioned by the fellow forumers above, you want best experience, invest on a good router. If i were you, I would avoid d-link and tp-link brand.

Mine is stock router from TM, but I could not find the place to turn off the TR port. Do you know where is it?
Mine is Dlink DIR842, firmware is V3.06TM

Thank you.

You can find the feature under Advance section. Source.

I have searched all advance tabs, cannot see this TR-069, I think most likely this has been hidden by TM with their stock firmware.

If you will the this stock Dlink DIR842, I think you also cannot find it.

Better buy ax series. No need buy old model.
Even if yr device only use ac; but newer router processing power is an upgrade. Some already use triple or 4 core processor. It also can serve u well in next few years.
Both asus & tp link easy to install & stable.

For that price, maybe u should consider tp link ax10 or ax50.
Better processor, newer tech, better spec.

Asus ax is more expensive.
*
If consider Tplink AX10, please take note that the AX (Wifi 6) is only support on its 5Ghz band.
AX10 2.4Ghz band is NOT support AX.

Whereas, the AX50 both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands support AX.

TM has sent me the wifi router, now they provide the Netis DL4480V1.
The internet is little bit smoother now because the Dlink DIR842 already got problem previously.

But this Netis wifi signal really crap... the signal strength detected stronger (3bars, sometimes 4bars) at upstairs than my Asus RT-N14UHP, but actually cannot load the internet at all. My Asus RT-N14UHP still can have around 10Mbps speed although just have 2 bars signal.

Really got to save money to have a better router. Asus AC66U compare to new AC59U, which 1 better?

We did warn you that TM's stock router is crap. Neither, I recommend AC68U. However, if you can only choose between both, AC66U should be better than AC59U.
*
That's why I post the replying again, hope that people like me will listen to you all advices from the beginning.... bangwall.gif bangwall.gif
May I know the DDNS available in the AC66U is which services, this major problem now, I cannot create hostname for accessing outside back to my house? Besides, I also looking the Asus AX56U and AX3000, seems quite similar for both, but the AX3000 is a lot more expensive, do you know what is the reason?
This Netis only provide the Dyndns and TZO, I think both have to pay. I cannot use the NO-IP now...

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Apr 29 2020, 04:52 PM)
Stick with RT-AC66U B1
Nobody needs 4x4 because nowadays, all devices only support 2x2
Even very high end gaming laptops still use 2x2

Remember to double check with the seller that it's the B1 version, not the old version as RT-AC66U has 2 versions. B1 is the latest version with dual core CPU
*
Ya, agreed with 2x2. Will take note if get the AC66U. Thanks.

QUOTE(posthumous @ Apr 29 2020, 05:19 PM)
@Yoooo

This. Some aren't aware the AC66u B1 is essentially an AC68u at a cheaper price. Both have the same cpu and ram and many other similarities.
*
Sure, Thanks.

QUOTE(Kelvynlim @ Apr 29 2020, 09:16 PM)
Comparing to AC68u, what about the AX3000? their price is almost the same.. any advice? I am looking for more long terms
*
I think if similar price, better go for AX3000, since you said long terms.
I believe most hardware support AX wifi next year.

QUOTE(DecaPix @ Apr 30 2020, 08:52 AM)
Cant you just pull a LAN cable from the new netis to upstairs?
then connect back to your old RT-N14UHP and use it as Access Point.
Then you will have awesome connection downstairs and upstairs
*
Will pull a LAN cable to upstairs now, is difficult and ugly. I think my mom will kick me out... Haha...
Currently I am using Aztech Homeplug HL129EP, can have the actual speed around 600Mbps (tested with NAS file copying speed). I have connect a Xiaomi 3G (AC1200) router at upstairs. this Asus RT-N14UHP although is stated 9dBi antenna, the signal strength and performance is slightly lower than this new gen Xiaomi 3G already.

Actually Ground floor router is main Wifi router (Netis), connected with TV, blueray player, NAS, Homeplug (link to 1st floor), Asus (set as AP) and for my parents to use (their activity is ground and 1st floor master bedroom). The Asus speed at ground floor is solid with around 40Mbps, while 1st floor is less than 10Mbps now.
The second router installed at 1st floor, (Set the Xiaomi 3G as AP), so I can use at Ground, 1st floor and 2nd floor(is half floor). This Xiaomi speed at ground floor (2.4G signal solid around 40Mbps, 5G (if got signal) around 60Mbps), 1st floor(2.4G solid 50Mbps, 5G solid 100Mbps), 2nd floor (2.4G solid 40Mbps, 5G will lost and auto connect back to 2.4G).
The above is tested with my 100Mbps Unifi.

Hi guys,

Lazada OOKAS is having promotion with Asus AX3000 today, sell RM677 (others are selling around RM720), and got further 11% discount, so end up RM 602.53 only.

with my uob visa cc got 10% cash back (if really can get this award), then will be really worth it, about same price TPlink AX50.

I think should be a good deal. Because this Asus support Aimesh, next time when the Wifi 7 comes, this Ax3000 (wifi 6) can be a node of Aimesh to cover other area, just like the AC68U still can Aimesh with current wifi 6.

While the tplink AX50 don't have this feature, so is a drawback.

The Lazada OOKAS store got discount voucher for it. just click to collect the voucher, it automatic discount 11% when you check out.

Same too.. When I saw the technical taken out the Netis. I was like... "Oh, that is more make me crapped"..
Then they say so far they supply this type of router.. The rest TP-Link and D-link no more supply..
*
I'm a bit different from you. When I got the Netis, I felt ok to have different to try since the Dlink 842 spoiled so fast.
But when I start using it, go through their setting and test the wifi connection. I am really down.
I would say the Dlink 842 is a lot better if it can be last longer.

QUOTE(Jjuggler @ May 3 2020, 07:10 AM)
Both router not recommended for these days. Get yourself with a ax56u and avoid ac68u as well. Better processor, better wireless coverage, better firmware support. An entry level ax router costs ~RM420 - AX56U.
*
Understand, I am getting the AX3000 with discount RM600, if win the award from my credit card, got further 10% cash rebate.

Hi All,

My Asus AX3000 is arrived. Everything works fine and can be loaded correctly.

However, after I have updated to latest firmware, I found out there is 2 issues:

1. Cannot link to Asus server to check for latest firmware or confirm it is already latest firmware.

Attached Image

2. The "Wireless Log" page is not loaded probably, nothing to display and cannot have other option to select like other page which work normally.

Attached Image

Before updating to this latest firmware (3.0.0.4.384_8601-gf00bccd), I have no issue at all.

Anyone is facing this issue?

Thank you.

Which firmware version that you are using?
actually my stock firmware is working fine after my configuration. then I go update to latest firmware (8601) and become problem now.
I have tried to downgrade the firmware, but the online only have 2 previous version(8591 and 8563), I could not get back my stock firmware which is 7739.
Version 8591 is having same problems while the 8563 can link to asus server for checking the new firmware but the "wireless log" still cannot be loaded probably.

I see, no wonder.

I have contacted the seller, and the seller asked me to download this firmware:
RT-AX58U_9.0.0.4_384_9042-g130f4c5_cferom_pureubi

Surprisingly, it works without problem now.

But I cannot find the firmware from Asus official website, and the seller stated is from Asus.
And said no warranty issue.

However, I am still doubt for it actually. Should I look for Asus for RMA? confused.gif

Please kindly advise me. I am willing to listen. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Thanks in advance.
