Now on 100Mbps plan using Huawei AX3 router. Upgrading to 500Mbps plan.

Nice. What is your main reason for upgrading?
Tempted to, but the RM249/mth is a bit sweat.gif

Going full streaming service and dropping Astro. Getting Disney+ if it ever comes to M'sia. Maybe Netflix too. Was also looking at mesh for my 2storey house.

Astro package currently rm130+ so might as well upgrade unifi. Only downside is, if cable cut, then totally no service.

Mesh and unifi tv box still haven't arrived. Can I just ask for the package upgrade 1st if it just requires configuration at TM side?

r these prices perpetual ? or they revert back to a more expensive price later on?  hmm.gif

also how is the latency like on celcom? any uptime issues?
these days i have not many issues with tmnut. but if can jumpship to something for cheaper with no issues, then i probly would  nod.gif

So far there is nothing that says price will change after contract. However if you wish to setup cctv at home then I would suggest you go for Maxis which has public IP.

Yes I believe that is possible. Mesh is just an add-on accessories which can be install anytime.

Those online submition quite slow. Want to upgrade just call 100 and they will process it for you. Otherwise if you have nothing to do, go to Tmpoint and upgrade will be done almost instantly.

I have reach tweet Unifi page, they will help me proceed the upgrade..... doh.gif
hopefully i can get it on 2021...

then i can start cut my unifi air and Axtro....

actually, 500Mbps package consider worth, RM249/month for 2 years, since TM giving Mesh M9+ worth Rm900. if we just divide 900/24 = 37.5, and if we calculate the package itself 500Mbps with ultimate unifi tv only (249 - 37.5) = RM211.50 as compare to Rm199 for 300mbps. you pay Rm12.50 monthly additional for the extra 200mbps. make sense ka? lol

put aside the new 24mth contract, of course (not like there's a chance to shift to Time in my housing area anyway).

Astro is also pushing a lot on their Ultra HD Box nowadays..
even recording goes to their cloud service, which in the end utilizes internet.

plus side for Astro : cable TV.
downside for Astro : if raining, no signal laugh.gif

from lower speed to 500Mbps should require some configuration change from TM side.

additionally, they usually send a vendor over to configure & confirm that installation address
really showing 500Mbps - users normally complain that they do not get that max. speed
and claim that TM 'cheated' them (when in actual fact, users perform speed test wrongly
or their wifi is not capable to achieve that speed).

my case, TM immediately upgrade my speed first, within a few hours after PONR has been created, only then they deliver the mesh M9+ to my address.

Those plans are their current offer with stated price, and it should remain for as long as you stay on the same plan.
I’m a new user of Unifi, and still under contract. So, idk if Celcom or other is good or not. To me, I would not mind trying any ISP that offer the best deals because I believe this fiber internet won’t have problem frequently.

This is especially to certain kampung2 area, if you can see FDP hanging around schools, balai raya, community halls and complexes, gov agencies complexes or any, the chance for the public to get your fibres pull from these unit is almost impossible ya. I've been told that these DPs paid to TM by the gov to that particular building.
Same as my case, after a year the DP unutilized by the school, I urged TM to open to the public and at last they agreed to open it.

The DP to my home is located at the front gate of a SRJK © school. I had asked many times if my area has Unifi fiber internet or not, asked around once every two months, and was always told “Sorry, you’re not in coverage”. Tried asking again this October 2020, I was surprised by the answer “TM technicians will come to install your fiber internet on X date”.

Probably, like what you said the DP is reserved for school, but now also open to public. That’s why suddenly got coverage.

I normally download videos from Mixdrop, a sort of video hosting site. Normally with Unifi 30mbps will dl at 920kBps/s where as on Streamyx 8mbps will download at 72-120 kBps/sec.

It seems like only can get 1/3 of the total bandwidth or throughout.

Unifi 30mbps should have a download throughput around 3.2MBps/sec max.

Streamyx 8mbps should have a throughput of around 1.2MBps/sec.

Does this download speed reduction is attributed to TM doing throttling ??
It seems like a perfectly sliced down speed of 1/3 of total capable bandwidth for each type of Internet subscriptions.

I was told if the time frame is still not fulfilled by the school, TM has a right to open it to the public, but still few ports to be reserved to the school itself. Same as your case, DP is just about 50m to my house and been there since 2019. Despite many rejection to my applications and returned me as no coverage available by TM, in Nov 2020 me decided to open aduan to SKMM, and on Dec this month, TM agreed to open it to the public.

Need advise. Just upgraded from Unifi Air to 800 Mbps just an indulgence to myself. However my home infrastructures are 7 years old. For me to achieve maximum output should I change all my ethernet cables to Cat7? I found out that i need to change my desktop network card from 10/100mbps to 10gbps.

Currently from the router :
1. one the ethernet cable is connected to my desktop pc which only receive 100mbps max download.

2. one ethernet cable is connected to Deco M5 which only receive 500mbps max download.

3. The last ethernet 30m ethernet cable is connected to my Amplifi HD for wired streaming purposes which only receives 100mbps max download

Appreciate advise for me to achieve max potential. Thanks

sound like you still have all the Cat5 networking, yes...upgrade to cat6 is sufficient already and it a must since you have the 800mbps connection. don't forget the main router too, you really need the powerful machine to deal with that speed.

Thanks. Currently i am using TPLink A10 AC2600 router. Is it good enough? Supposably 2.4G @ 800 mbps and 5G at 1200 mbps

wow... only dual core chipset sir, you need more powerful quad core chipset machine like tplink deco x60, tplink Ax20, asus Ax86u, to deal with 800mbps on 5ghz band. unless you not worry much on the speed you get as long as you got the internet connection. lol
