The switch that you linked is exactly the same as the one I linked in my previous post. But it is an unmanaged switch, still can work to get my desired setup? So BTU to AX3000 (my room upstairs) , then from AX3000 to this switch (downstairs) and I can connect to HyppTV, smart TV and laptop downstairs?

Yes. It is capable to do the VLAN tagging. I am not sure of how their marketing department come up with such naming scheme of the product. I mislooked the model you've proposed earlier. So extremely sorry for that. biggrin.gif

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

subscene,1338,rarway all this cant access, unless I restart my modem but it works for like few hours than can't access again.

tm blocked them for piracy. If u want to download subs type unblock subscene and the error will be gone.

My bad. The TL-SG105E that you originally linked to is VLAN capable. My mistake for dismissing it too quickly when I saw the "unmanaged" word. Alternatively look for used VLAN capable routers. I bought a few Mikrotik RB750GL routers from a fellow forumer for about RM50 each. The switches in Mikrotik routers are VLAN capable.

2 more questions XD. If I connect my laptop or console to this switch downstairs, will it increase the latency compared to if I connect to the router directly upstairs for online gaming? I am also assuming this switch is capable of port forwarding too right?

They called me on Wednesday and today suddenly my line got dc'ed many times. Then my speed upgraded. I check my plan still 30mb  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

This is normal procedure when want to change the package speed. You will have a few times of interruption, in your account will update new package soon. Speed upgrade first then new package will be changed. Did they told you about the next bill?

They switch from their side first. If failed many times then tm technician will come to your home for double check what is going on. The worst part, my friend experience tm technician exchange old btu to new one because it's failed for reconnect back with auth got problem, the tm server side make a minor mistake that dragged for two weeks to settle the problem. Why? first, he need to use for normal unifi package then tm will switch to real deal package for him as deal during he applied through tm point. 1 week use for normal package and another week for switch package. Second, during that time of upgrade two weeks have a public holiday. After a few argument, then he finally got his package. So, blame on tm remote side ya. Make a tiny mistake, then drag many days without said sorry.

Mostly yes, I check on myunifi apps and inside there my account already reflected to a new package from 30mb non fibre to 50mb super value package. Will monitor this 1 week see the connection speed status.

For the bill they already mentioned during the conversation between me and the rep. I nod it and in case the speed is not on par can revert back to the old package

Normally using ethernet cable within the same network will not add any latency or within 1ms addition.
Port forward should only be done with the 1st router, unless u double nat(setup one more router as router mode within your network, then port forward from that network is needed for specific usage)

Brother go626201 has answered it correctly. However, from my point of view, I won't be recommending to do any port-forwarding rule for security purpose.

Port forward not recommended? So it is not safe to perform port forward to allow my friends to join my server in online game (eg. Team Fortress 2) even if I do it with my router? Anyway, I already ordered the switch. Thank you for your recommendation notworthy.gif

Recommend a virtual lan software call "Zerotier".
Every player pc install zerotier and join the same network, and might need to set the metric value as "1".
And all player in the network will be able to access your server without expose to public network. (Either by ip or browse Lan network browser)
But this will not works for public access,as it will only show as Lan network, but public server list will not as no port forward set up.

I use this for my personal access to all device that didn't have public ip access.
And i also used it to play warcraft 3 with my cousin. (Old version that support LAN access, similar to Garena Lan)

To be clear, this software have very strong method for go through nat network,so normally 95% of device will establish direct connectivity to other device on the same network without going through their relay server. (normally no addition latency if direct connect)
I not sure if go through their relay server will get what quality of connectivity. But i think just add some latency only, since they might have singapore or tokyo server as relay.

Port forwarding is done at the main router. The switch doesn't have to worry about it. Latency will increase since the traffic has to physically travel further but it'll be in the hundreds or thousands of a millisecond.

You ordered the TL-SG108E? Have you confirmed that the Asus is able to do the VLAN trunk?

I'm not sure what is their TnC, but they secretly offer this kind of deal for the selected customers is indeed an unfair practice.
If they are secretly offering this kind deal, I want the same, if not will move forward to file another report.
They are checking with the manager, will get back to me on Monday.

Very likely the promo price is valid for a limited time. Maybe 1 or 2 years?

Based on my limited knowledge on networking, I supposed my Asus router can't according to this post?
I better cancel my order now. Thanks for the reminder. It seems like vlan trunking is proprietary to cisco according to my research 🤔

If I remember correctly, Asus' stock firmware doesn't allow for scripts. With a 3rd party firmware you can run scripts and enable multiple custom VLANs and much more

I am still too noob for custom firmware. I will use stock firmware for a few month first before venture into this. Thanks for the info nonetheless =)
