From my observation, bandwidth with new PlayTV app seems higher. 5.6 Mbps average. Too bad some channels lack subtitles in the app.

I don't think other ISPs will expand into my area, so will stick with TM for some more years.

One can always add a switch if 4 ports on the router is not enough, unless you need network monitoring on each port. In that case, get a smart/managed switch.

yah i don't need switch because my table will messy because BTU + ASUS Router RT-AC68U if add switch hard la space table and messy

that i prefer BTU + Router only clean

i know new model RT-AX88U has 8 lan port but GT-AX1100 more power full then RT-AX88U because RT-AX88U = AX6000 Dual Band and AX11000 Tri-band

that why more power full AX11000 Tri-band

have to wait 2020 new model will be AX11000 Tri-band with 8 lan port but not sure when release maybe Q2 2020 OR Q3 2020 like that

I'm lucky my router is in store room so I can hide everything there 😁

A mini rack like below can help keeping everything neat too:

My BTU, router, Raspberry Pi & core switch tongue.gif in my store room. They're 3 wired network points to living room, upstairs living area & master bedroom, which I put cheap routers as APs.

If all put in my room , how to put the house phone downstairs?
*
In my case, the phone is used on ground floor only. Never tried the cordless phone on different floor. I guess it may work.

man when are they gonna repair that undersea cable again? speed was fine a few weeks ago and now it's gone back to being crap again on international sites...
*
Any fault in undersea cables is easily detected, even where the fault is. The long delay is to travel in ship over the vast sea, dive under sea & fix the cable, which can take weeks, especially if the location is far away or there's a storm in the way.

In the meantime we can only wait ..

After 3 years of endless complaints at TM's online CS and store, a mail to MCMC and finally a call to local YB which they passed info up at Dato Gobind's office...
Those who are at Bandar Putra Kulai, I've got a bad news...
Agents who took our info basically just submitted another demand list to TM which they ignored; while local YB had already send a direct letter to MCM requesting TM allocate budget for fiber laying ASAP... they tried, the problem is on TM and TM alone

NO ETA on UNIFI as at Jan 2020, probably wont be avaliable untill mid year

Outside Malaysia, when no ISP around, residential communities build their own solution eg Wifi Powerbeam from another nearby home + lay own cables. Teach TM a lesson šŸ˜‘

Maybe they upgrade to another better firewall.

I believe ISPs like TM use both DNS blocking & IP address range blocking. DPI filtering not needed unless they want to block specific apps or track users eg Torrent. Safer to use VPNs.

Last time, many Android phones at home don't like Pi-Hole on my Pi 3, no matter how I configure it. End up using built-in ad-blocker in my router, and built a custom app to store/process/feed the statistic to a custom dashboard.

Directly via PiHole, the gateway on my devices is PiHole static IP address. PiHole is running the DNS service. No DHCP service running on PiHole.

Other devices such as IPCam, TV do not use PiHole, they are on static IP, gateway is router IP address. DHCP on AX20 still running as guests come over still need to auto assign IP addresses.

Which points to me is an intermittent issue on AX20. One won't see it unless running weird network configs like me. And when it happens all devices going through PiHole shows no internet. At that time I have to reboot Rasp Pi for internet to come back.

With AC66U it only reboots once a wk and Rasp Pi still on daily auto reboot. On AX20 both devices auto reboot daily.

Issue gone away with AC66U with ZERO changes on my PiHole or OpenVPN client.

Gone through similar experience before I gave up on Pi-Hole.
