Your line is probably on a very old OLT unit at the exchange. Are you located somewhere in TTDI/Subang?

FiberHome is China's 3rd largest network vendor brand after Huawei and ZTE.
It's HQ was based in Wuhan, and probably Wuhaned when COVID-19 struck the city.

Nokia isn't cheapskate, it's used by the world's top telco companies such as Google Fiber, AT&T, Taiwan HiNet and HK's HKBN when they took over Alcatel-Lucent Optical business.

The newer OLT models especially Huawei's Universal PON line cards support multi vendors but not the old Wuhan FiberHome OLTs which is still used in some major TM exchanges in the Klang Valley.

They swapped the FiberHome fiber modem for you was because it's probably the only compatible model which still works best with the OLT switch at the exchange. If your exchange is already using the newer Huawei/Nokia based OLTs it should work fine with the new Nokia modems.

I live in Gombak and the entire infra site of the area is relatively new which is approx 10 years old.

What I meant by cheapskate is Nokia btu’s especially the newer ones can only be configured ones and if the settings go missing or corrupted, there is no way for Tm engineers to configure them and the units are taken back for disposal. That’s what the Tm engineer itself told me as it’s not user friendly compare to other btu models.

Because I was informed, they have stopped rolling out this new Nokia btu’s as it’s not reconfigurable and hence this brand was brought just very recent after receiving tons of complaints with this new Nokia btu’s.

I relocated my unifi to my new house.

The installer bring this FiberHome to me as well.

And asked me to leave my huawei modem to myself.

Lucky you. For me so far fiber home is stable and good and second goes to Huawei.
