Before you buy:

- No obstacle avoidance
- No usb charging. Need to bring the charging brick
- Cannot control with phone
- No gestures, no tap to fly, no active track
- No manual controls, terrible for backlit situations when you need to change exposure
- Stuck in CE mode (rated range less than 500m)
- Propeller is screwed to the motor with phillips screw, need to bring screwdriver to change props

Actually it's fine if you're just getting into drones, but for seasoned drone flyers, there are better alternatives out there... waiting for a spark 2 with 2.7k 3 axis gimbal and 30 minute flight time
*
Hope they made changes to the app for manual control, the rest are not really in my priority list. Not with the drones budget range anyway

Combo or single? Can walk in store and buy?
*
Combo

I think you can survey those drone and photography shops if you want to walk-in purchase.

Saw KLDSLR already have stocks in but not sure they have the combo or not

I'd like to from a beginner's point of view (I've only flown toy drones with no hover mode), is a used Spark with 3x batteries a better option or a Mavic Mini with3x batteries?

Prices have dropped especially used Spark's.

I know the main difference being obstacle avoidance + follow mode + less flight time.

my usage is just flying around for photos while travelling.
*
IMO, if you prefer longer flight time and portability over manual controls for your pictures and videos, the mini looks more suitable for you.

I'm saying this because not all people want to fuss with the camera settings and the mini's SOOC quality is pretty solid.

Is it safe to run on 2.4ghz for urban flying on the Mavic Mini ?
*
Not recommended as urban area is congested with 2.4signals, better to use 5.8

How do I know which country uses what version whether is CE and/or FCC? And Malaysia fall under CE or FCC?

Afaik, only America gets FCC version while the rest of the world gets CE

Anyone knows why Mavic Mini FMC stock is an issue now,  searching high and low, no stock, and some even tell me supplier naik harga.. rm150, and some worst selling 2399..

I managed to preorder 1 unit at 1990, at 20 November till today I'm waiting for my unit.. anyone have any idea what actually happen? Thanks.
*
Global stock also got problem, you go check DJI Official store also out of stock.

So can expect sellers to mark up the price a bit from SRP.

so if accidentally bought FCC- can't fly higher than 150m ?
*
doesnt make a difference if you bought FCC or CE cause the app detects your location and uses the protocol for that country

thank u for the reply.  So it does not matter.  Can i ask if it was a problem in the beginning, hence the earlier disscusion in the thread to avoid fcc.
*
IMO, people wanted the FCC version because it was rated for longer distances. However, there are chances that DJI will void the warranty because Malaysia (like the rest of the world) follows the CE protocol.

anyone here use range extender for longer distance fly?
*
yup, sent my RC for stage 1 upgrade from The Unlocking Drone (on facebook) for RM250.

So far, can easily reach maximum height of 500m.

Owner also has a booster, he said the Mini can get up to 8KM (yes you're reading it correct) distance. The limitation being the small battery.

Hi, can u school me on this. Correct me if i m wrong-

I buy CE version- i can use both bands to fly, but 5.8 only allows 500 m distance. While 2km if i use 2.4 band.

So what is the restriction in using 2.4 band ?  Too many signals ?
What band do u use to fly ? In KL area ...
Also sm has 12 mths warranty and sm 18 mths, why the different length ? Do we have to pay more for 18mths.

I have an offer for fmc rm1999, 12 mth warranty. Is this fine.

Thsnks for yr patience.
*
The restriction with 2.4 ghz is that many household appliances use that frequency (eg. your home wifi) so you will get interference easily, which is why 5.8 ghz is given to reduce that effect.
Also 2.4ghz has higher penetration power than 5.8ghz, which is why it is rated for longer distances compared to 5.8ghz.

IMO, those with 18 months warranty are just extended warranty, DJI officially supports up to 12 months while the rest is from the shop i think.

Hi MichaelJohn,

Your range extender antenna, is it more difficult to maintain connection to the aircraft? I understand you are getting better range when the signal is stronger...I wonder is it easy to aim the antenna while you fly around.

Also, does the unlocker drone guy give you any instructions to use? Can share or not?

I'm considering to use the directional antenna similar to yours, but a bit concerned regarding the ease of use.
*
I assume that what you're asking is whether my connection is stable with the modded antenna or not, if that's the case then yes, it does.

Mostly because the modded antenna gives better signal gain than the standard one

The drone guy just basically does the most of the job of modding drone RC. Nothing much to instruct tbh cause the modded antenna works the same as the standard ones.

This is all theory, and that’s why I ask in practice, do you find it difficult to keep signal strong...

No problem if you keep the antennas in the same direction as the drone. Even past 1KM.

thanks a bunch. You were getting good service in 5.8G? I mean considering 5.8Ghz for mini CE is lower power.

yep

I would like to know with the stage 1 antenna upgrade, are you able to fly with 5.8 ghz ? Before the upgrade I was able to get 400-500m at puchong. After upgrading today, I lost connection at around 130m at Cheras and Puchong.

On the 2.4ghz when tested at Cheras was able to get 1800m distance @ 500m height. But when I brought it back to puchong I can barely hit 200m.

In a nutshell, my MM suffered 5.8ghz after upgrade. So puzzled.
*
Did you do your antenna upgrade from the Unlocking Drone?

If yes, the antenna used is a dual band high gain type, which basically means both 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz.
