Bought helmets on Lazada & Shopee.
It's a bit of a lottery, coz you won't know what you'll end up getting.

QUOTE(dude06 @ Oct 9 2021, 02:35 AM) Hi guys... Got 2x LS2 Metro FF324 that were in the RM500+ price range when I got them. Not too impressed with the polycarbonate shell as they flex quite a bit, causing issues with the drop-down sun visor. Owned 4 different LS2 fullface models before, never had any flexing issue due to the non-modular design.Any full face and modular helmet to recommend for touring and highway purposes..? Will be getting an adventure bike and should be cruising around 120kmh to 150kmh.. Budget around 350 to 500... wearing glasses just to mention.. Thanks in advance..😊😊 Due to the flex, the drop-down sun visor would catch & get stuck. Not an issue on short rides, but an annoyance on long rides coz I absolutely need my drop-down visor to work smoothly. Maybe it's the luck of the draw since you can't inspect them when buying online. Also... one of the FF324 helmets is the Firefly model that has a matt finish. Total garbage, held up for 2 years before flaking off. Had a Givi fullface with a matt finish before, and that didn't hold up well either. Moral of the story - steer clear of matt finishes, stick to gloss only. On the plus side, they readily take an intercom system & was able to mount a thin Ordro 4K gimbal cam without issues. Anyhow, I'm getting the Scorpion Exo Tech next. It's the best looking modular whose chin bar is designed to flip all the way back. I found I tend to ride with the chin bar open quite a lot, so now I want a modular helmet that allows me to flip the chin bar out of the way completely instead of leaving it hanging open on top of my head. QUOTE(basilisk @ Oct 9 2021, 06:27 PM) u checked out the shark, ls2 model which flip all the back oredi? Not too familiar with Roof, Shark & Airoh coz these brands are a scarcity here.so far only roof, shark, ls2, airoh, scorpion has this type.. these helmets are pretty heavy I have checked out the LS2 FF399 Valiant & the newer model FF900 Valiant II. The chin bars are huge which gives these helmets a wide, round bottom look. Makes me look fatter than I already am. Tried the older Scorpion ADX1 modular at Motoworld and I like the fit of Scorpion helmets, so I'm quite partial to the Exo Tech... when it's back in stock, that is. |

QUOTE(alexei @ Jan 28 2022, 11:22 AM) Certified to ECE22.05 so should be ok. Sharp rating are available for some models. It's a Spanish brand but really based in China, last time same factory as MHR. Now top models got carbon fibre and MotoGP FIM approval. If it is ECE rated, it should be good.Just make sure to look at the details when buying. Sometimes the visor sealing not perfect, so kena rain will seep inside. Sharp rating is more rigorous and it costs a lot more to the manufacturer to send helmets in for the organization to test, so you'll typically only see this on high end models esp those that are used for racing. ECE rating is mandatory for all helmets sold in Europe, but not in the US. ECE tests are done by the organization and are also more rigorous compared to DOT. DOT is trickier. I saw videos explaining that DOT operates on an honor system, where manufacturers are allowed to put the DOT label on helmets they *feel* meet the standard and *intend* to test themselves. Bottom line, DOT helmets are not tested and verified by a regulatory body or organization, which is why you're likely to see this on lesser helmet brands. I wonder where SIRIM sits in the scheme of things. |

QUOTE(basilisk @ Mar 15 2022, 11:43 AM) I think the Shoei-style ones were the original ones from Thailand last time. That was like 20+ years ago la. At the time, they were the cheapest helmets you could buy that had nice colourful graphics.Guys used to go to Haatyai looking for them at one time, before these helmets started appearing in Msia. The Balakong made ones came much later I think. This post has been edited by ZZR-Pilot: Mar 15 2022, 10:52 AM |

QUOTE(persona93 @ Apr 20 2022, 08:06 PM) These are an acquired taste. Been a long-time fan of modular helmets, having had two LS2 FF324 before but I find the visor release latch to be bloody fragile and it's a royal pain in the arse to remove the visor without breaking the flimsy latches. I've broken them in both my helmets, and the drop down sun visors have become stiuck -- they're due to be sent back to LS2 in Penang next week for repairs when I make a run back to USM to get my graduation gown for my convo. So when I moved up to an adv touring bike with a big windshield, I got a Scorpion ADX1 and an HJC C80, both dual-sport modulars with a peak & elongated chin bar. Bought them because they use simple metal screws that hold the visor in place, a far simpler & better mechanism coz they won't break like the silly latches of my LS2 FF324s. Not exactly of the quick-release nature, but I never had the need to remove my visors in a hurry anyway so it doesn't matter. These are fine when u have a big windscreen coz the peaks won't catch in the slipstream. The original purpose of the peak on off-road oriented bikes is that if you tilt your head down a bit they can keep the muck from the rooster tail left by the bike in front off your visor. I don't ride like that, but I do find the peak to be useful keeping the worst off your visor in heavy rain. I like the elongated chin bar as it leaves plenty of breathing room between your mouth and the chin bar, allowing my Cardo mic to slip under pretty easily when I close it down. They also tend to have a bigger viewing port, so together with the additional room behind the chin bar they make the helmet less stuffy when you have to ride in slow traffic at noon. Just opening the visor is often enough to let in plenty of air, instead of having to lift up the entire chin bar. Between the C80 and the ADX-1, the ADX-1 is clearly my favourite of the two. The only drawback is it isn't P/J rated unlike the C80, although the new ADX-2 addresses this issue. Not much a problem to me coz I have hardly had the need to ride with the chin bar up anyway coz the viewing port is so damn big. |

QUOTE(dude06 @ May 7 2022, 11:58 PM) Guys... Flip-back modulars that allow the chin bar to go all the way to the rear of the helmet require additional gear mechanisms that add even more weight & complexity. And they tend to be very round in shape too.Wanted to get a modular flip back like Scorpion..Shark evo one 2..LS2 Valiant etc etc..any input on this type of helmet...? Thanks all.. Cheers If the simple drop down sun visor could get stuck in my LS2, then I tend to distrust more complicated mechanisms in a helmet. Just more shit to get knocked out of alignment, slip, jam etc. dude06 liked this post

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Jul 31 2023, 04:30 PM) If wanna make high quality content for utub etc ok la those cams...but for normal dvr purposes kinda videos, can just get SJ4000 AIR and get this case from AliExpress Biggest problem is that the batteries don't last very long on these, requiring you to either plug them into the USB port or manually charge them off the bike every night (if you ride to work). And it's such a faff having to remember to switch them on and off every time you ride. Worse is if you mount them on the bike, coz you also need to take them off and screw them back on too coz they're thief magnets.https://a.aliexpress.com/_mO8NzTG Has dvr loop function, Good image quality, stabilization depends on ur head, n with that case, can charge while riding..even if its raining (if u setup the other end of the cable to be water proof)...no need to buy multiple batteries or change batteries every hour 😁 The whole point of having a DVR is so that it can switch on, record and switch off automatically without you even thinking about it. Me, I just want to hop on my bike, thumb the starter button and eff off. Anything that gets in the way of this process is a no-go. Jason liked this post
