Thank you for your suggestion. That Shark Ridill looks like the best choice for a FF @ RM450. Just wonder the ones in Malaysia pass ECE or not.

Any other suggestions? Otherwise I’ll probably pull the trigger.

Didn't buy the Shark Ridill. Delayed my plans. Anyway now kena racun by Shoei PFS already. Why the Z8 still not here in Malaysia, seems to be out in ID & SG already. White & that Basalt Grey looks nice.

Anyway, thanks for this helpful thread. Learn a lot here. My turn to contribute

The common notion that SIRIM = ECE 22.05 is wrong since SIRIM can be under MS1:1996
Just bought a new helmet yesterday. Zeus GJ318C RM110
Not sure if its the cheapest ECE 22.05 helmet in MY. But very cheap already.

Requirements was: Use for L helmet, nearby neighbourhood riding, spare helmet, cheap.

Zeus is a Taiwan brand, and the helmet I bought doesn't have JPJ or Sirim but has ECE 22.05. The GJ318C is a cafe style demi-jet with built in half visor. Also comes with the 3 snap button so you can attach a BOGO full face visor if you want. Another feature is removable liner, so can wash.

Price is RM110. Other helmets considered were SGV champion, Magnum, Index dll. But those are all SIRIM only, can't remove liner and cushion doesn't feel as firm - SGV seems overly soft. No brainer to pay a bit more for ECE IMO. Color also very retro style and the cap visor thing (dunno what you call it) is cool looking. There's 1 vent in front and 2 exhaust vent in the rear - actually its just a hole. Got myself matte vespa gray.

Pros: ECE 22.05, nice retro design and color, vents, removable liner, half visor, RM110 what you want. A bit extra get all the features over comparable SGV etc.
Cons: micrometric buckle (double D FTW), not a full face

If you ever want to buy a Shoei helmet, visit GoMoTo experience lab to do a size check. The shops are hit and miss, and you do not want a bigger shell than you have to.

And you can try the different models and sizes from the entire lineup. Just bring your own balaclava.

That being said, Arai’s new Quantic has so good cushioning. Feels light years ahead of Shoei for comfort and out of the box fit for my head. The cushion is superior that’s for sure.

Do i need to pay for the fitting service? Or like need to show i've already booked or bought a Shoei helmet for them to entertain you? Or just show up and just say wanna try fitting up shoei helmets. Interested to get X-14.

Size check is free. Just pop by and tell them you interested to buy and want to do size check. And you can test out the entire lineup if you wish. All free.

Good and friendly service.

If you can wait for HJC trade in campaign.

DD-ring is uber safe, but if you have a lot of stops that need remove helmet, it's painful to use. With gloves and forgot to strap, you'll have to stop and do it. Micro-ratchet is fine.

For ventilation, the inlet outlet usually works to pull air passing above the liner, but the liner itself is prohibiting ventilation. In some cases, holes from the vent, through the shell, and liner, do not align properly. Inspect your helmet and see how to improve it.

I like DD too. Oops wait, wrong DD.

Micro-ratchet really convenient. I think if I am just going nearby at low speeds.. will make do with that.

anyone familiar with this brand, bilmola? are they somewhat decent?

Just got my lesen and have been using the helmet provided by the riding school, bout time i get something decent. considering getting tt corse or a bilmola (maybe a rapid s). have not tried either helmet yet
any other alternatives will be appreciated. thanks!

Get a full face helmet, and an ECE rated one.

The riding school helmet, you might lose your chin. Getting a non full face Bilmola, you gonna lose your chin too. So why bother?

eh no, the bilmola is a full face, im looking for full face helmets (unless i got the wrong model)
this is an example, theres some special editions released at the moment. full face ece rated afaik

Good. But best to try it in person.

I like HJC specs and graphics, but when trying it on in various sizes it just didn't agree with my head shape. HJC is a no go for me. Remember you want it to fit snug. Mine was either snug with pressure points on my ears and forehead, or its too loose. So no joy for me.

High cut. Pretty budget riding boots. I'll have to look for another to replace it, maybe tcx or Alpinestar.

I think would have been worse without it! When getting new branded boots do look for the CE rating label on the boot. There are some name brands which doesn't carry CE rating.

Looking at your gear.. even if its budget gear, it beats no gear. Speedy recovery!
