Maybe the plugs you use is too big hence the high pressure build up..
Anyways i would always suggest riding with an earplug. 92db exposure for 30 minutes is all it takes to get hearing loss. And 92db is not too far fatched to be exposed to while riding.
NB: higher dBs would take far less time to get hearing damage.
Earphones dont block noise at all - even worse with active noise cancellation since it blasts the same noise that is at 180 degree phase. Which means your ears get exposed to the loud noise even more. If you want to hear songs and navigation a basic Cardo Spirit (<RM400) + earplugs would be the way to go.
Does the Cardo Spirit able to join in into other Cardo units?
Also, with earplugs in, won't it block off the sound coming from the speakers of the Cardo Spirit?
Sorry might be newbie question but 0 experience on this so yeah

earphones if earbuds type, wont do anything for noise....
if IEM type (aka ear dildos), with the correct size tip, can help reduce a little... but it really isnt much. earplugs are still the best solution to outside noise.
if ur uncomfortable using earplugs there are many different types out there, even mouldable ones. i find foam earplugs to be the most comfortable as it will expand to ur specific ear canal.
if u feel weird about the silence, just get used to it n raise ur awareness of ur surroundings. after awhile u probably wont even realize ur wearing it.
yeah, earphones as in earbuds.. correction on my part.
Samsung buds, they literally block out noise too when just placed in the ear without playing any audio.
but thanks for the tip.. Will lock into those earplugs that you've mentioned
