earphones if earbuds type, wont do anything for noise....

if IEM type (aka ear dildos), with the correct size tip, can help reduce a little... but it really isnt much. earplugs are still the best solution to outside noise.

if ur uncomfortable using earplugs there are many different types out there, even mouldable ones. i find foam earplugs to be the most comfortable as it will expand to ur specific ear canal.

if u feel weird about the silence, just get used to it n raise ur awareness of ur surroundings. after awhile u probably wont even realize ur wearing it.

Maybe the plugs you use is too big hence the high pressure build up..

Anyways i would always suggest riding with an earplug. 92db exposure for 30 minutes is all it takes to get hearing loss. And 92db is not too far fatched to be exposed to while riding.

NB: higher dBs would take far less time to get hearing damage.
Earphones dont block noise at all - even worse with active noise cancellation since it blasts the same noise that is at 180 degree phase. Which means your ears get exposed to the loud noise even more. If you want to hear songs and navigation a basic Cardo Spirit (<RM400) + earplugs would be the way to go.
*
Does the Cardo Spirit able to join in into other Cardo units?
Also, with earplugs in, won't it block off the sound coming from the speakers of the Cardo Spirit?
Sorry might be newbie question but 0 experience on this so yeah

yeah, earphones as in earbuds.. correction on my part.
Samsung buds, they literally block out noise too when just placed in the ear without playing any audio.
but thanks for the tip.. Will lock into those earplugs that you've mentioned

If you're 3m ear plug + cardo spirit = you need to set to higher/max vol to listen to music albeit with lesser bass and slightly muffed musics.
But overall still able to hear road vehicles and some minor wind noise

I'm actually tried the foam type and I'm not liking it.. Tried the ones for swimming and I stick to it ever since.. Washable and can control how deep you wanna plug..

And as wearing it with comm system, I think can hear clearer with earplug on coz it blocks away all the wind sound.. I always ride with music on + earplug on my LS2.. And for my Shark, I'll skip the earplug as for me it's quite a quiet helmet..

Ya, the pine tree shape type that can adjust how deep you wanna plug.. There's another one type that got hinge at the end that follow earshape.. That I found is not comfy.. Anyway, diff ppl diff ears, I guess we just need to try until found one that fits us well.. It all serves the same function in the end.. smile.gif

u got use earbuds? which size the earbud u normally use? example, earbuds come with 3 sizes can interchange... do you use the standard medium, or big, or small?

then, find earplug for small ears. example: https://noisyworld.org/best-earplugs-for-small-ears/
bear in mind, high NRR (noise reduction something) means thicker foam and will expand to higher pressure as well, so don't greedy buy high NRR earplugs then curse it not comfortable

if want to listen to music with earplugs, can find acoustic earplugs or concert earplugs
those have special noise filter that allows good frequency to pass through

I tried Macks purple, Macks pink, any several 3M earplugs, at first is not comfortable, but I learn to wear them during working so I can remove when feel uncomfortable, and the practice is good now can wear earplugs during long rides without discomfort

also when u wear earplugs, or ANC headphones, you will realize the severity of your tinnitus (ear ringing), then u will motivated to wear it more often

Its ok. I also just started using the spirit less than 2 weeks ago. The spirit will allow you to connect to other cardo units via bluetooth. But the range will be around 400m only with clear line of sight. I use it to talk with my wife (she's riding as pillion).

You can still hear sounds coming from the speakers. The speakers are directly resting on your ears under the helmet foam. You will not get any bass from the speakers but its good enough to hear voices and music.

The earplugs really remove the wind noises which are generally high frequency range. But all other noises are still audiable albeit slightly lower than what we are used to. If you do plan on getting something like a Cardo, i would really recommend getting used to riding with the earplugs first and getting used to the lower sounding noises you get. It should take only a couple of rides to get used to. After that you can add the cardo/music. This way you will not immediately feel like you've lost spatial noise.

earbuds cannot interchange tips... i think u mean IEMs... i use the middle ones.

i dont need to find anymore ear plugs... im already very happy with the 2 form types im using now and they fit me well...just the silicone pine tree type ive never found a suitable one. though i wouldnt mind giving the 3M 1250 a try...saw on shopee they have the corded version n price macam not bad.

I just use 3m 1100 disposable foam earplugs..the kind with the string. Rm2.50/pair at hardware shops so its easily available

I also use this with the foam tips https://shopee.com.my/product/81885991/9776...69-1654315248.9

Both work well for me and are comfy. Even with a jet helmet they reduces enough to help me keep my sanity.

yeah alrighty.. For sure will be taking some time to get used to riding without any distraction first (music, earplugs, etc)
gonna be aware of surrounding while riding until I'm comfortable enough to be riding with those in my ears.
What do you guys think of KYT TT Course helmet? Anybody here have tried it? Quiet enough? Considering a entry level helmet and low speed riding (max speed 120km/h maybe?)
Or any good entry level helmet to recommend? Max budget RM 650 - 700

Just bought an LS2 Valiant II helmet.. sigh its too noisy even with earplugs.. anyone else have this helmet and have similar experience?

At 80 the wind noise is like me riding 120 with a cheapo MHR modular helmet..
*
So a quick update on this. The wind noise is still loud no matter what I do. But the helmet did make me realize I wasn't wearing the earplugs properly doh.gif .

With the plugs in proper at 120kmh the wind noise is acceptable, not as loud as I initially complaint about. In fact I could comfortably wear the helmet as an open face helmet with minimal wind noise heard up to 80-90 kmh thumbup.gif

So I'm quite happy with the helmet now
