Recently fresh installed Windows 10, fully updated and installed some apps. But about 60% of the time if I boot or restart PC, it will freeze on Windows 10 startup logo.
I can see my mouse and keyboard led on when pc is booting, but mouse led will off first, followed by keyboard led off on windows 10 logo.
If the kb and mouse led come back on after 1-2 seconds off, then windows will continue booting, if not, stuck at windows logo forever.
Things I tried: 1. Windows Automatic Repair 2. SFC / DISM 3. unplugging my usb devices 1 by 1 4. AppXSVC regedit off 5. no antivirus 6. Ram tested 7. totally fine if I managed to boot into w10, gaming etc 8. rollback to absolutely fresh install 9. totally reset windows 10 10. disable USB Legacy Support in BIOS 11. re-enable hibernation to untick fast-startup
any ideas guys?
spec: i5 2500k asus p8z68v pro gen 3 newest firmware giga gtx 960 windforce 8gb kingston ddr 3 1333 500w seasonic psu intel 1.8" 180gb ssd system drive klevv 256gb ssd
edit: I read there's this bug with windows 10 with some newer keyboards with USB Lecacy 3.0 support in older mobo. I tried disabling that, and it "seemed" to work. need further testing.
edit2: I think I managed to solve it, cos the last 4 times I cold boot, this doesnt happen anymore. Will update if it happens again.
edit3: nope, didn't work, and the symptoms gotten worse, 95% fail rate to boot into windows, even after resetting windows 10. Will clean install another ISO on another SSD tonight to see if it helps.
edit4: pretty confident this time I have fixed it, cos the entire boot "sequence" is changed, ie it shows the icon then directly off my usb peripherals light, then direct success boot into windows everytime. too bad I can't be of much help, because I basically just downloaded another ISO with 1909 update from microsoft, Rufus it, install it on my other SSD, and swapped SSD port to 6Gbps (was on 3Gbps b4), so anything can be a fix, the ISO, the SSD, the port, so yeah....

Have you try scan the HDD? Test with new OS? Did you try default/XMP profile BIOS? When you can boot, can you check temperature? Can you try temporary disable all Start up items in Task Manager? Did you try Windows Memory Diagnostic or Memtest?

Also, try the following: 1. Check whether your drives are failing 2. Check whether your RAMs are failing 3. Disable XMP and CPU/GPU overclocking, if any overclocking is done 4. Update the BIOS if possible This post has been edited by chocobo7779: Nov 8 2019, 01:38 PM

From what you have described, it seems like your SSD might have issues. Try to check with crystal disk info, then run a benchmark with crystaldiskmark and see if your PC will crash or slowdown. If I remember correctly, Intel SSD toolbox can also check your SSD for errors.
You should also do memtest with 4 passes to make sure your RAM is working fine.

EDIT: did not work, and problem become unbearable, will be clean installing soon.
I think I managed to solve it, cos the last 4 times I cold boot, this doesnt happen anymore. Will update if it happens again.
Steps I did that worked for me (one of these did the trick): 1. Disable USB 3.0 Legacy support in BIOS(Saw ONE user mentioned that his new corsair kb giving this symptom for older gen mobo, so I tried it cos my kb is relatively new and mobo is old) 2. Re-enable Windows 10 Hibernation then turn off Fast Startup (commonly suggested fix, but my hibernation is already off, so Fast Startup should be disabled too in the first place, but just to be sure I re-enable Hibernation to show the FS option and untick it)
Thank you all for your help and info. Hope my solution help someone at least in the future.

QUOTE(Melaro @ Nov 21 2019, 05:39 PM) I also encountered this problem before and I just reinstalled the OS and the problem was solved. yeah, i see numerous reports on this as well, and switching ISO when fresh installing is also among the most ppl recommended when everything else fail. I guess Windows 10 is just inconsistent even with a fresh install lol. Thanks for your input!

There still could be some conflicts if mobo is very very old anyway and it shouldn't work that way totally and completely for whatever reason. How do you plan to go there anyway ? I do want to make it happen. If reinstall of win 10 helps and it was fresh I am not even sure what it was.

With a fresh install on a different SSD connected to a different sata port and a different iso. So any of these 3 can be the real culprit. Or just win10 randomly borked itself in the first install.
