Does he has any hobby? Maybe you could get something that has to do with it for him? Or if you are good with handicraft, you make things for him?

But those can be a tad heavy on the pockets. I wouldn't mind receiving a soft toy by my girl. But dont be too generous on the size, just something that he can cherish biggrin.gif

Your own hand-made gifts are the best birthday gift. Paint a picture and frame it or knit a handphone beg etc... there's many way to express your feeling to him in the present. Of course this does take time for you to make.

Soft toy will be your alternative. If you going to get him a soft toy. choose the one which you think suit his/her the best.

Anyway, this is just my opinion. Hope it helps.

Good suggestions, but dinner isn't something you can really give. I think a gift would be more memorable. But then thats just me.

For me,i would prefer an original copy of a game or maybe a model car.I prefer something that can be keep as collection than something that can be used like shirt.

I dont mind to have a stuffed doll.I kinda like those stuffed dolls that are cute.Doesnt look too girly lah.

well, if you give him a doll, the reaction mostly u'll got is
"oh wow. thanks a lot. i love it! "

but remember, it will be sitting there in his room collecting dust and he wont be even bother to have a look at it. unless he's a doll collector. doh

As for me, i wouldn't mind. I mean, as long as its from my girl, i wouldn't mind if she gave me thrash! Okay thats just a figure of speech xD

What type? Oh, just about any type. We guys, we feel the same about any type i guess. But i'd suggest one that you both have a special memory with or one that he recognises.

Hey there! laugh.gif
He likes music, but ipod/mp4 he already owns it.. I cant give him something he already has.. unsure.gif And he kinda has everything.. sweat.gif

Sure~ After all this thread is to generally talk about what type of gifts u should give to ur loved one or gifts that u have received from ur loved one.. tongue.gif

Hmm.. Watch ah.. Maybe u should get those silver/gold coloured watches for her.. For me, the simplest looking one is best.. whistling.gif
Or u could customize the watch like this..

Or put a picture of both of u together like this..

Or just modify the watch strap and put ur name and hers on it.. laugh.gif

if he likes either one of them u can go buy model kits of whatever he likes. assemble it and paint it and giv it to him. that would be nice hehehe. main point is its not the $$$ value of the items but the effort that u taken

hmmm very easy to choose. usually he spends his time watching wat anime or shows???check his collection and see which one he doesn't have. ask around in the forum if u dunno wat the robot or watever thingy name is. i can help you if your bf is interested in gundam kits coz i myself am a gundam fan but i'm not much of an expert.

Something personal.

Bake a cake from scratch + frosting. Then a present, something he needs / wants.

Well, just here to chip in an idea. Not every guy will enjoy this but.. my bf did smile.gif

So there was this one time I was out of cash lol. Had no money to buy any presents for bf's birthday.

After thinking about it for weeks, I decided to plan out a Wheel of Fortune game for him - where I'm the host and he is the player.

PREPARATIONS:

The wheel is filled with random things like "surprise kiss" or "hugs" or "mamak treat", "mini quiz - if answer correctly get a small prize", "ice cream", "trip to arcade" etc (be creative). Of course, it is also fun to have a "bankrupt" equivalent to make it more exciting. Eg. If he bankrupts he has to give you 5 kisses as punishment.. or anything else you can come up with..

The phrase that he has to guess during the game can be either something simple, something suggestive, or even a silly quote that the both of you use often. "i love you" or "happy birthday" is okay but it's too easy... so just use your imagination and come up with something personal..

Maybe you can start off the first round with an easy phrase, and subsequent rounds get more complicated.

I created a total of 2 normal rounds and 1 bonus round (with a grand prize). Each round had a different "wheel" - so that it's more interesting and he could win different things at different rounds.

It took me a few hours to plan it all out and do a little bit of practice - but both of us totally enjoyed the experience. I was really scared at first because I wasn't sure whether he would play along but in the end the two of us were laughing so much and having lots of fun biggrin.gif

He was really happy to win all those little random surprise kisses and stuff wink.gif

Erm.. if she likes you... she might be touched by your idea.. but if she doesn't like you in return.. I think she will feel probably feel really humiliated in front of all her friends and things might turn out for the worse. Good luck!

Yes! I agree! rclxm9.gif Yay~ bladegirl notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif Ur a genius! I'll definately try that out one day.. drool.gif

@briggs86: Erm.. Can u actually send it during classtime? shocking.gif I think i have to agree with cskeong there.. If she doesn't like u then maybe it will freak her out.. But maybe she wont.. Know 6 months de ma.. Does she know that u like her? Try to catch her during her free time and talk to her.. Clear things up a little.. Things like this cannot rush wan.. Anyway, this is just what i think.. All the best! laugh.gif

Ok, back to birthday gifts..

Possible Birthday Gifts for ur Girlfriend brows.gif
Im just a normal girl.. And my ideas are basically on what i received or things that i think other girls would like to receive as well.. Coz i see some posts are guys wondering what to give for gf.. Hope this helps out a little.. Here goes~

One thing u could do is to write a poem for her.. [Recite it in front of her if brave enough brows.gif ] Secondly, if u can play instruments anything at all (eg. guitar, piano) Sing her a song.. It could and should be a song that u both know or better yet known as "Our Song" to the both of u.. Get what i mean..? laugh.gif Besides that, like one of the earlier posts (inspired by cskeong laugh.gif ), u could try to cook something for her if baking a cake doesnt work for u.. Like one of the posters said, some effort need to be shown! laugh.gif For those good with drawing, no need to say.. There's tons of things u can do including drawing a picture of her.. smile.gif Choosing your girlfriend's birthday gift really is the ideal time to show her your romantic side!

Then comes the traditionally 'popular' presents for the ladies have always included flowers, chocolates, jewelry, fragrances and lingerie. Maybe can put this as side dish to ur big surpriese for her.. laugh.gif rclxms.gif

Thats all for now.. Most of the above is what my bf did for me.. laugh.gif And i really love him for that.. wub.gif So i thought ur loved one might like it too.. All the best!

Other ideas and suggestions are most welcomed! notworthy.gif

P/s: These also work out of a relationship.. wink.gif

good good, take it slow and easy. dun push too hard. dun send gift to the class. firstly you're gonna disturb her class, annoy her teacher, annoy the bookworms in her class and lastly freak her out and annoy her as well coz her frens will definitely pester her non stop

Jus an experience i wud like 2 share...
Me n my ex used to love jigsaw puzzle...
So, when we have time...we will look out for new jigsaw puzzles in Mid V's Puzzle World...
We wud then spend our free time completing the jigsaw puzzle together...
If we ain't so bz...it wud take dayz or weekz to finish...
If we r extremely bz...it wud take weekz or monthz...
Haha...aniwayz, we have so much fun completing it...
We wud frame it and hang it up to enjoy the fruit of our labor...
I personally prefer those glow in the dark ones...

In a way...we can spend more time together...enjoying each other's company...
Secondly, we use our combine effort to complete somthing we realli love...
blush.gif I miss those dayz...

Aniwayz...jus an idea smile.gif

Aniwayz...jus an idea smile.gif

hmm indeed jigsaw puzzle an excellent gift. pets can also make good gifts but u must make sure that the person u're giving the pet to is able to commit to a pet. pet is a living thing u know. it needs your care and your time and oso $$$$$$ dun simply giv pets that later gonna die coz they can't care for it properly.

Well.. Im not so sure about where to find it at ur place coz at my place (Sabah,KK) Monokuro Boo products are not found in toy shops.. Usually they are in gift shops.. There's alot there.. Plushies & dolls, etc..
Does she like Monokuro Boo? If u think she prefers Eeyore then i suggest u get that for her bday.. But like u said, it would be awkward if u get her something she already has.. Maybe u can check out her collection first..
U can also try and get her other Eeyore merchandise besides a plushie.. Coz she might already have an Eeyore plushie.. Just a suggestion.. >_<
Hope it helps.. laugh.gif

1500 according to my colleagues. my opinion is dun go for the brand. i think your bf might go nuts if u bought sumthing that expensive for him hahaha unless of course u can afford it without much problem to your finances.

u said that your bf kept that scribbled paper u gave him so i dun think he'll mind if u dun get him a mont blanc. but of course dun go buy a kilometrico lah. maybe get sumthing that is in the range of a couple hundred nice looking pen. preferably pens with shiny shiny silver or gold clips. engrave a message on the pen.

if your bf line of work requires him to be in formal attire the pen would be useful coz it'll look nice when clipped on the shirt pocket of a long sleeve shirt/coat and he can use it to write.imho its the thought and effort that counts

Buy something he likes..example, if he's a game maniac , then you can buy him something like xbox 360 or anything which relates to his interest so he will value and use it. and not to forget everytime he uses it , it will remind him of you... smile.gif

Imagine buying him a gift that he does'nt "love" = for the 1st hour it will be around his arms and after that it will end up in the showcase or elsewhere forever...no kick ler..

@melissa lim: I think he has an x-box already.. Besides.. I dont have enough money to buy one.. *sighs*

Well, i decided to make a heart-shaped pillow.. 100% my work.. No machine..

How about a full day plan? Instead of getting only gifts, why not make the day special by a full day plan? Like a barbeque surprise party or

there's this one time when my bf pre-ordered a stuff toy that I like (there was no more stock apparently), got all my close friends together, bought a choc cake and surprised me after school by coming to my house. He tried making me sad a little in the morning first like acting he didn't plan a single thing for my bday. Then when I got home, he appeared at my doorstep with a big bag behind him then asked me to make a drink for him. While I was busy in the kitchen, he opened the front door for my friends so that when I walk out of the kitchen, there are people there to surprise me.

Don't know if this idea is special enough for you guys haha...

Now I'm trying to think up a full day plan for him. Anyone's got ideas?

Yes i have to pay back big time. The plan was just 90% success. Cause he called up my mom to ask for permission. He made my mom promise not to tell me. But one day... she accidentally let slip. Opps. doh.gif Then my mom was like "Don't tell him! Don't tell him!"

Ooo picnic! nvr thought of it. Good idea! Which means I have to prepare food... hmm... heaven or disaster? shakehead.gif

I'm still single and so i have no idea. I would keep it i guess.
But this is what my friend does,
Gf handmade a card for him, he happyly takes it home and leave it beside the pc table so that he could see it everyday.
Few months later, yes it's still there. (collecting dust)
TBH, many guys don't appreciate [time+effort] gifts.. =\

hmm... okay... but it seems like different guys will have different views... some may really appreciate it while some would prefer something that they like such as electronic gadgets...

i'm planning to give my bf 22 gifts (something that he like + things that are personal to us) for his 22nd birthday... baking a cake or cooking for him may seems impossible as his birthday fall on the semester break... might not be able to celebrate it together with him... i feel myself silly because his birthday is in june next year and i already start thinking what to give him for his birthday... sweat.gif

smile.gif Basically, guys will love watever his partner gives. Eventough he gives lame responces or xpression, but believe me, they like it. How i wish my gf will be reading this thread and giv me weird n creative surprises like in this thread.  brows.gif Haha. No offense of the word "weird" being use here.  whistling.gif .

If me, i would like a grand piano. Lolz. But it's totally impossible. So any present will actually do. And of course better if hand made stuffs.
