I am totally stumped. I have used tons of Android phones, but never encounter such a problem which literally with no solution.

Story like this:

Current MiA1 has an old slower 32GB memory card. I think it is formatted as internal storage (in this phone, you can either format as Internal Storage or Portable Storage). So i have bought a bigger faster microSD card to swap.

The Whatsapp(the media folders and some other sufolders) and the DCIM folder(and a lot other stuff dunno what) is currently on the 32GB microSD card. I have already backup the whole memory card PC.

1. Took out 32GB. Put in the new 64GB card, format as Internal Storage. Phone can use, no problem. Big problem is there is no way to transfer files into the microSD card! Not even when i connect via USB to PC, it simply won't let me access the internal phone storage (including the built in 32GB, which is understandable).

2. Format the 64GB card as portable storage, now can manually copy the DCIM and Whatsapp folder into the card....but jalat. Whatsapp can''t find the media files (photos, videos) and the Camera take photo dunno store where, keep saying my USB Storage is low, WTF. I don't think it store the photos in the microSD card DCIM folder also. And in the camera app, there is NO SETTINGS to point where to save the photos and videos! Just brilliant!

So basically, i can't transfer my critical data of Whatsapp and DCIM photos videos to the new card and make the apps working. If worse case scenario, i can reinstalll whatsapp and restore from backup.

But the camera is making me crazy, If i format as internal storage, the camera still have same issue, it simply don't know where to store the photo medias anymore. If i put back the original 32GB card, everything works fine again. There is also this thing, the phone remembers each card. Even if i remove the 32GB card, it remembers the sdcard being unmounted. And to totally remove it, i need to select "Forget Card". I am afraid if i forget the 32GB card, i will forever not be able to link and my camera storage location still screwed and i will have to do factory reset. I really don't want to do that!

I never have problems with my Samsung phones handling sdcards...WTF Android One so mah fan!

PS: This is my kid's phone.

It sounds like your 64GB SD card is faulty.

Actually is nit, solved the problem already.

The function to migrate data back from sdcard to internal storage is in the INTERNAL STORAGE Menu top right column. I kept looking at the sdcard top right column and cant find anything.

So basically , i have to uninstall some games and apps ( as internal storage too small, cant fit), migrate back to internal storage, take out old 32GB put in new 64GB and migrate out to the new sdcard again.

When everything is running stable for a while, you can "forget" the old sdcard to remove links to the old card.

:x

Hope this helps other people who have same problem.
