The purpose is to let everyone seen it, if less obstructive, people will ignore it and defeat the purpose. This is just my opinion.

Did I saw correctly ? 8tv today is in HD mode when DG give speech ? Didn't took the screenshot but it feel like HD to me.

No it seems that you saw wrongly.
8TV is only available in HD quality on Tonton live streaming, and it's not available in HD elsewhere other than Tonton.

True also, but if the viewer wants to see it, they will go and see it whenever they want to... Or look up for the information elsewhere.
There's no need to occupy the screen all the time until it severely obstruct the viewing on ALL channels, except Al Hijrah, Go Shop and CJ Wow Shop
Oh, when it comes to shopping, suddenly those overlay information not so important anymore?


As if Malaysians got no other source to get news and information on the on-going COVID-19 cured patients and related news.
And the font size of that text scroller is so big, even bigger than the typical local and international news channels

Imagine if those text scroller of COVID-19 information "like call this hotline when you need help, remember wash your hands with soap and stay at home" keep on scrolling at the bottom of your screen and the currently how many infected/cured patients information are always there showing up your screen all the time, and reminds you 24/7 that MCO is now until 28 Apr, also wish RTM 74th anniversary (OMG, seriously??),
you will get annoyed even if you try your best to ignore it and even if the intention of them providing the info to you is good.

Do they even need to show that on every single channels? Out of all 15 channels on digital TV platform, can't they just put any one or two channels? Must put almost all channels ah seriously?
There are times where people just want to take a break from all these COVID-19 news la seriously...
Whether got breaking news or no breaking news, those things will still appear there.

Yup, but VBR with very little fluctuation on bitrate is pretty much CBR in real terms.

Yup, awful. It obstructs normal entertainment viewing too much by unnecessarily showing such information almost 24/7.
Around 30% viewing space is occupied by such information. No comment if these information was shown on Berita RTM and Bernama TV all day long.

So what if they put that Covid-19 information on the screen?

Even lowyat forum is putting scrolling text information about Covid-19 at either the bottom or top of their screen. The Covid-19 information is for real time updates as the people and public need to be well informed and aware of the state of this disease worldwide live and in real time because it is dangerous and it could possibly kill.

The text size is Okay as people with smaller screen TVs might not be able to see that information if it was shrunk.

Over at RTM, what happened to "The Librarians", "The Odd Squad", "School Of Rock", Sunrise To Health" on TV1/TV2 and "What Say You" on TV2/RTM Bes and the English documentaries every afternoon on TV1 as well as "World's Most Extreme Homes" on TV Okey?

And on TV Okey, nowdays no more Philipines drama?

Since almost all of us are staying at home during this MCO or lockdown period, the Education ministry should open a few learning and educational channels on MYTV Myfreeview platform so sudents can perform distance learning from homes. Maybe they should like bring TV Pendidikan back which should be like Astro Tutor TV and Astro TVIQ, and if not better than those Astro channels. Students are all missing classes and school and this is very important. Education must be there to provide the basic foundation to be used as basic living skills and knowledge to survive and face the world.

Another thing I would like to recommend is a music channel similar to MTV, VH1, Channel V showing English, Chinese, Indian and Malay as well as maybe some Asian and European artiste/bands. A lot of USA/Canadian/Latin American, European, Australian, New Zealand pop, Rock/Metal/Indie, Techno/Electronica/Electronic/Industrial, Ballards, K-Pop, J-Pop, Canto Pop, Mando Pop, Hindi Pop, Tamil Pop, Thai Pop etc can be played and aired.

Everybody from Kylie Minogue to Justin Beaver to Jenifer Lopez to Dua Lipa to Katy Perry to Jason Mraz to Beyonce to Pitbull to One Direction to The Jonas Brothers to Nicki Minaj to Britney Spears to Ricky Martin to Madonna to Spice Girls etc for International pop artiste.

Maybe RTM can have this suggested new standalone music channel on MYTV Myfreeview since I heard that RTM wanted to increase its total number of TV channels on digital platform up to 15 and it will be good since nowadays we are all staying at home or working from home.

It will be good to have all these channels and shows on MYTV Myfreeview platform as these will increase the number of channels and we all have more things to watchas a lot of people are asking for these shows back and this types of channels.

Hi guys, need some inputs here. Please recommend the best bang for buck antenna for 30km distance from tower. Preferably indoor. If indoor not possible, I would prefer outdoor antenna that does not need to put very high on roof. Currently using the indoor paste on the wall antenna. Only able to get 8 channel at best at 666mhz. Even this channels stutters all the time. Weird thing is, when I used with USB booster, no channel detected at all.

BTW, I'm curious on what the difference between 5e aluminium type with jp 5e type. Is signal quality the same?

If you are 30km from the transmitter, you need an outdoor antenna
Just being out doors and a bit more height gives far more signal than you can get from any indoor aerial.

30KM requires the use of outdoor antenna, indoor antenna maximum can go up to 25KM only

OK thanks. Ordered one from shopee just now. Things is, with my paste on the wall antenna and also my DIY antenna, I was able to get >70% strength but 0% quality. What does this indicate. And when there is a picture on TV, the strength is 40% only and quality jumping around 30-50%
