my parents home in johor bahru could not receive signal from media prima channels. they used to watch 8tv up until a week ago when the channel would get distorted

they tried automatically scanning the frequencies but still not working.

singapore channels are fine, tv1, tv2 are also ok. what can we do about it?

Please readjust your antenna position.
Adjust the antenna position until it reaches the highest and stable signal readings possible (Strength %).

have not asked the my contractor to check if there is any cable inside the roof,
Sounds like you're currently doing some renovation works on the house or something? :hmm

my house facing north unblock view can see the clear sky and the kelapa sawit few kilometre away, no antenna at the rooftop,
If that's the case, hmm, I'm not too sure whether 5E elements antenna would be strong and stable enough to receive stable reception of Singapore channels if the antenna is pointing towards opposite direction away from Singapore... It's a "maybe yes or no" situation here...
Using a signal booster might help, but if using antenna with more elements is more likely not going to work.
shaun_kok What do you think if he/she go for 5E element antenna?

On other note, to get the best results and a more proper solution, go for rooftop reception.
I'd suggest telling the contractor to make sure to lay a RG6 cable from the rooftop to your room (if there isn't one).
If you're a handy person, you can buy an outdoor antenna, install it at rooftop by yourself (together with the mount), make sure it's pointing towards southeast. Then just connect the cable to the antenna.

In this case, since the antenna can be easily pointed towards southeast (Singapore), you can consider opt for antenna with more elements (14E and above) so you might have the chance to be able to receive Indonesian channels from Batam too.
*
Signal levels greatly depends on the region - general advice - if they could receive Singaporean FM signal outdoors from Bukit Batok clearly (minimal hiss in stereo mode) - yes it is okay to go for 5E antenna (still I would recommend a higher gain antenna for better signal reception - because Kulai is quite far away from Bukit Batok).

I tried to place the antenna link below on the iron grill of 2nd floor window but only can get the MY channel
That window you're referring to, is it facing towards southeast?
Do you see any big building blocks or big trees or big hills that is near to you that may be blocking your scenary view from the window? Need you to confirm on this before advising further.

If it's okay for you, can take pic of the view of your 2nd floor window?

I have the TV antenna wall socket at my house but don't know where it leads to yet, logically we can buy the 5 element outdoor antenna and connect with it right?
Do you see any TV antenna at the rooftop of your house?
If not, do you see a cable connection at the rooftop of your house, which may lead down to the TV antenna wall socket of your room at 2nd floor?

If worse come to worse, buy new RG6 wiring, buy 5E antenna (or opt for 14E antenna if you're worried), lay the new cable from your rooftop down to your room, and check if you're able to receive Singapore channels.
If not sure, you can hire a technician that does TV antenna installations to come over and do it for you.
If you really opted for this option, you might as well target for being able to receive Indonesian channels also hahaha...

It's just that there is a way for you to enjoy TV channels from 3 countries, and able to see how's their TV channels look like, that's all.

It's fine if you're not interested in exploring Indonesian channels.

It is 2025, and we are now forced to watch TV broadcasting in SD???

No wonder viewers gone to somewhere else.

HD should be the only standard - the only standard!

Typical MYTV.... Any changes in their muxes (e.g. downgrade in picture quality) will be done quietly without notice.
Same goes to Awesome TV.

I suspect is Media Prima have been defaulting their leasing fees payment with MYTV, hence they downgrade their channel's picture quality.

For MYTV Broadcasting, it's all about money. Business minded as usual.

No money, no HD. They don't care about "standards in 2025", and certainly not putting user's viewing experience first.
As long the channel is still there, then it's considered "good" already.

Nowadays not many people watch free tv anymore even some b40..
So lesser views, lesser the money

There have no chances but the only choice is to downgrade just to cut transmission fees.

MYTV refuses to provide statement on channels being downgraded to SD

MYTV sentiasa komited untuk memberikan yang terbaik kepada penonton, begitu juga dengan pihak penyiar. Semoga segala kebaikan untuk kita semua.
Then the reason behind this, is very likely because of broadcasters unable or no longer want to pay for HD fees anymore.

If that's the case, there's nothing we can do whistling.gif
I mean, anyone can just reach out to Media Prima about this, but I don't think we'll get fruitful answers out of it, other than "no money to pay, or want to save cost".
