QUOTE(joshhd @ Dec 1 2022, 01:13 PM) I believe it is possible for them to make it a state-only channel, rather than a channel that is made available nationwide. But I think it's going to be technically complicated. 3rd mux be like, states coverage only. This post has been edited by Qash-M: Dec 1 2022, 02:27 PM

Analogue TV in Batam is officially gone. Batam viewers can now receive MYTV DTT signals (from Gunung Pulai) without any issues as the interference is now gone. This is a legacy byproduct of our broadcasting system (using a similar one from Europe) where they uses LCN (Logical Channel Numbers). So the TV will auto scan and insert the appropriate channels accoding to the LCN list. Hence TV1, TV2 and TV3 when it started. IIRC when we started broadcasting with UHF, channel 4-6 was still being allocated to LCN, so that's why we then starts with 7 (NTV 7, 8TV, TV9). Now both LCN and UHF are depreciated, RTM took TV6.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Dec 18 2022, 10:01 AM) Interesting Information... Wondering too why there's missing link on 4 to 6 & straight went to 7.... Now I know 🙏 We know what 1 to 3 means (TV1, TV2, TV3) I guess 4 meant the defunct Metrovision (now 8TV), 5 meant the defunct Mega TV and 6 meant Astro? So that might be the reason for a gap between 3 and 7. NTV7 is the seventh TV channel/station in the country, this might explain why they take 7. While Channel 9 (now TV9) was launched before 8TV/Channel 8, someone had already owned the necessary license for Channel 8 (the owners never bother to launch it before Media Prima bought the Channel 8 license outright) well before the launch of Channel 9. But as linkinstreet said, it might be following the LCN sequence too? This post has been edited by shaun_kok: Dec 18 2022, 01:48 PM

We have the similar case for Singaporean TV where there is Channels 5, 8 and 12 because these channels used to transmitted on VHF Channels 5,8 and 12.
On Singapore's TV guide section (you can find it on NLB newspaper website), you can find TV1/RTM1 was at one time known as Channel 3 while TV2/RTM2, Channel 10 on the guides, even when it isn't called like that (all because of the frequency they used to transmitted from Bukit Batok + Gunung Pulai).
When the amount of channels grow, Singapore no longer names their channels based on the channel frequency. (CNA, Channel U .etc)
Channels 5 and 8 is now on Channels 2 and 3 on Singapore's LCN list. The name was kept as is because it is called like that since 1963 and nothing has changed in terms of names in English, Malay and Tamil. The Chinese term for both channels is modified very slightly after Mediacorp/SPH Mediaworks merger but the meaning remains the same.
"Channel 12" no longer exists (the frequency allocation was allocated to Prime 12, later Suria). Premiere 12 was launched as a spilt of Channel 12 to two (the frequency allocation was later allocated to Central and Vasantham.)
