Hi. I just got my izzi internet, and I'm getting abysmal bandwidth. My area is Bandar Utama, and I'm quite near Centrepoint. So I'm not sure what to do about this connection.

Well anyway, the guy at Lowyat told me the Damansara Perdana station will be ready by the end of this month, so he said the signal would be better. I take that to mean that it will be much better than the less than 100kbps I'm getting. lol I am trying this service first because I checked out the website, Centrepoint supposed to have a station. And that guy told me a customer tested in KDU, getting 300kbps bandwidth.

Pinged to KL using the speedtest.net website, I get a ping of 500, the best result I got was 260+ ping, compared with my Streamyx connection (via wireless router) of 115 or so ping. But still the download and upload speed is terrible, less than 10KB. Sometimes the ping is ok for a wireless service that isn't at nearly full strength, but occasionally it appears to cannot download anything even when there's a signal.

Well for the promotion dates, I went to their website and it was from 16th to the 21st. Last friday, the guy told me they could extend the promotion there. Sure enough, today I logon to Izzi's website, and they posted that the promotion at lowyat will be for another week (22th to 28th).

Anyway, went back there today, asked the guy why I didnt get an antenna and told him about the terrible conenction I was getting. Well he said if I like to, I can deposit RM50 to get one of their antenna (I believe they are called resellers, so they got the antenna from somewhere and they claim to have limited supply). Shortly I got it for RM30, went back home and tested it out. So I am quite satisfied at the speed currently. My signal goes between 90-98% as long as I don't move the laptop or antenna, and it can actually reach 100%. Of course I had to position my laptop a little nearer the edge to have some more space away from the wall.

My latest speedtest result at speedtest.net to KL is 473 kbps/142 kbps. Well since the signal already nearly at full strength, I'm not sure if adding another base station (They said Damansara Perdana) will boost the bandwidth even more.

edit: pings to LA and Cananda are around 350ms on average. You might expect something like 108/97kbps with that.

From what my experience goes, 100% signal does not mean I can get the maximum bandwidth. For a short while, my link speed download shown in the iBurst modem utl window was 890kbps. lol

just realised the pictures are too small, meh.

Tweaked settings with TCPOptimizer, and managed to increase my download speed by 200kbps, still upload only gets a minor increase, about 10-20kbps. Of course had to make sure that the signal is above 90-92%

Downloading from multiple sites...pushed the download to 800+kbps

I think the answer is more complicated, but to put it in a simple manner...they want to compete with each other.

The major hypermarkets around all have a basic plan, to sell goods at a lower price, and they are all competitors too.

I was wondering about the connection speeds around night time (e.g. 8pm-12am). Bandwidth is about less than 200kbps.

Signal is near 100% so sometimes the ping is ok...but even sometimes there's a pause, and then only resume loading again.

I've tested in my area. After getting an antenna the bandwidth was around 500-600 on average, so I thought after getting another base station up, it would be higher. But even on the last few days of last month, the bandwidth already decrease to 400 at the most? Usually I can only get around 10-12KB per sec. While streaming 98kbps music, download speed can fluctuate anywhere from 30+ to 200+, so only a few times got distorted. So many people suddenly sign up in my area?

QUOTE
wireless connections are not good for latency sensitive applications such as online gaming, there are still people who sign up for it.

It's actually ok'ish. Just don't use wireless for FPS. Most MMORPGs still do ok. But your signal strength need to be high. Still I'm testing it and I have lagged movements sometimes.

I'm not sure whether to send in a report to Izzinet's CS.

Same or similar reports - similar response. If you think you can get a different response, you must be insane. I also get terrible bandwidth around the same time as most of us, which is usually in the evenings. Signal 100% only means that the signal can reach back to the computer fast enough.

What do the technical team do about these reports?

Based on the comments here, all I see is that they need to fix the base stations, some fine-tuning required, got technical problems etc. I went to a booth promoting Izzinet and asked about the bandwidth, the guy said the same thing. And of course he won't know what is actually going on in my area (TTDI/Damansara Perdana)

I call up CS while at the office, the guy tells me when I go back, I call them up again so that they can help me determine the problem? Hardly believable...

By the way, am I wrong to say that the company will not be able to meet the 10k subscribers quota in order to start the lucky draw that is being promoted on their website?

Didn't really improve much right now for me, am getting 350kbps. When I had 500kbps bandwidth, that was better.

Edit: 09:21 PM was the time I posted the above line, now it seems better, can reach 600kbps for a speedtest to KL server.

I noticed that too, didn't test out how many retries I needed, using streamyx for now, which has much better ping and greater bandwidth /heh
