Anybody has issues with the head unit looks kinda washed out? I can't even see the road properly with Google Maps. I wonder if it's the screen, or because these Chinese HU are not properly scaling (screens are 1024*600, but the apps are 480p upscaled, and the 16:9 internal ratio does not fit the screen weird ratio)

Havent used GMaps on HU, I think I only tried it once when got it for first time, so cant really compare. Been using waze, and its all fine.

Let me check it out tomorrow. Any pictures, to compare with?

Using Android Auto with Headunit Reloaded at 480p scaling

Both are unable to properly show the roads, unless they are highway which are marked in yellow. I wonder if I can change the contrast of the HU, but I can't find any settings for that

Seems to be fine on mine...

Looks sharp. What model are you using? I feel I might need to go into the factory setting for mine

EDIT:

Went into factory settings and found out that brightness (actually white level) was +50. Setting it to 0 fixed the issue. I presume the installer feels that the screen looks murky on it's default setting and tried to compensate for that, but leading to the washed out look

Good that you had solved, i was about to suggest to clear the data and cache at setting->app->maps

Mine is a very old model, 5 yrs ago and only has 2GB Ram, if one is getting  a newer one, better to go with 4GBRam or above.

Mine is called Convex, but similar to any other Chine OEM model but it has 4 video out so works well with my 360 cam recording.
*
Thanks. i am interested because it seems yours are using the correct resolution, while mine looks like it's not the correct reso for this 1024x600 screen (you can see the text are not smooth and jagged, tell tale sign of bad scaling). Since I am mostly relying on Android Auto via Headunit Reloaded, i don't actually mind the low RAM count, as bulk of the processing happens on my phone, and the HU is just the output

I am noob when it comes to ICE.
I got Pioneer AVH-ZL5150BT 7inch for Toyota 200mm size, yes 3 yrs warranty
Not sure about the number of video out.

The sound quality is great even with original speakers
*
If you are not looking for something to install those apps or watching movies in your car, than yeah, the Pioneer that you bought is a great head unit. If I had the budget I'd rather go for it too, especially since it has sharp pictures (compared to the blurry smear mine currently has).

So on Eonon head units, the USB labeled carplay/Android Auto does not support USB hub, only the other one does. Took me hours to figure out why I can't split my USB which I did successfully with an older head unit.

Since the Eonon came with a free DVR camera, the shop installer plugged it into the non car play USB connection, and it was only after reading the documentation again that I realised I need to use that USB instead

Qualcomm 625 is a bit old SOC. Running all 8 A53 efficiency cores only. 7862 got 6x A55 efficiency cores and 2x A72 performance core. Plus !4nm vs 12nm, the later runs much cooler thermal efficiency at full speed. I think min Qualcomm 7 series or top tier 9 series should wipe the floor.

Any specific brand that you would recommend? I know most are just rebadged from the same chinese source, but depending on the brand, it means that it can be easier to be bought in Malaysia.
I am using Eonon for example, just because at the time it was the easiest sub RM1K head unit with 720p screen I can find. I know if I search hard enough, I could get cheaper ones, but searching can be confusing.

What’s the best bang for buck headunit for Myvi lagi best 2013 that is under 1k? Most importantly is not lagging during operation. Would be a plus if can connect reverse camera.

Thanks in advanced
*
If you want the cheapest option, minimum I would recommend is the TS18. It might not be as powerful as the TS10/7832, but it's good enough (I am also using one).

true. the radio chip and sound processor is actually same as TS10. i also want to buy this last time, but due to RAM 2G, then i bought the TS10 4GB.
TS18 2GB/32GB rm500++
TS10 4GB/32GB rm700++
both are not include installation/casing/cable.
*
TS18 got 3GB as well. Mine is. Honestly don't think you need that much RAM to be fair, unless using 360 camera

yeah. but 3GB is hard to find stock, plus extra few RM for extra RAM should be better because i like the system wont fully use the RAM when i run multiple apps in background because this way wont lag.
if u notice after system reboot. it already use almost 2GB for background apps, OS etc.
*
Never really noticed to be honest. I only use mine for Headunit Reloaded and use Android Auto from my phone. Using the head unit directly is quite distracting sweat.gif

Thanks will look into that, was looking for something that could be reliable down 4-5 years road.

How much you bought the TS18 and what’s the installation fee looks like?

*
IIRC most shop will charge RM60 for installation of head unit and RM60 for reverse camera. If you kautim a bit, you can get lower.

QUOTE(PowerGadget @ May 17 2022, 01:05 PM)
So would recommend to get the TS10 8GB version as a better bang for buck or it’s just gimmick for such high ram given.
*

IIRC from xda-developer forums, people who tested the TS10/7832 said that the firmware only allows RAM up to 6GB. So it's a waste buying 8GB

I’m using 7862 8gb. Just upgradeda month ago. Same performance as 6gb to date. However I haven’t stress Test the device.
*
Yeah. Because the device won't actually be able to utilise the extra 2GB ram, so the performance of 6GB and 8GB will be mostly similar. Hence why people on XDA were saying better off saving monies by buying the 6GB models

7862 6gb+128gb is nicer for me but currently deen assalam only sell 8gb+128gb and by comparison his price is now same as Momen Tum Beh. Have to wait or 6gb+128gb may no longer produce? Which seller you bought after all?
*
Everybody is still waiting for new stocks it seems. The combination of people buying a lot of head units after getting the 10K EPF (pasang sebelum balik raya) and chip shortage means that a number of sellers don't have new stocks right now

Hello Guys, I am planning to get a Android Head Unit for my Old Kancil 1994.

Kenwood
Will this be good enough? I just need it to connect to my Spotify and play songs from there.

Or should i get TS18? I cant seem to find the 3GB variant

Thank you for your help
Do you have any link or to get the TS18 3GB variant?
*
Same reason as above. I also am surprised at how hard it is to find it right now. During the first week of Puasa, there were a lot of shopee sellers selling this around RM550++. Nowadays not many have stocks sad.gif

Btw your Kenwood link is suspicious. I doubt they are selling a "real" 4GB unit below RM300. Likely it's a modified firmware that tells you it's 4GB when it's only 1GB

for android player, can buy any player to use on mazda 3 2012? will it usable with the steering wheel control? or need to buy those specific made for mazda 3? but those usually 2gb ram, seem abit low for the spec ?
*
Need to find the correct bracket for your specific car model. This will influence how large the head unit you will need to buy (either 7", 9" or 10"). Then, you would need to find the harness connector/converter from your car's original wiring -> head unit.
If your steering wheel button is analogue, then it should be included in this wiring, and it's just the case of "teaching" the head unit to recognise your wheel's button and map it to the correct function

So yeah, you don't need to buy specific to your car.

Quick search on Shopee
https://shopee.com.my/Android-Player-Casing...9142.5810733783?
- Casing/Bracket (9")
- Wiring Harness
- Antenna joiner

This is for RM32

So the only thing left to do is to find a 9" head unit that fits your budget

Hello thank you boss, I have purchase the 7862 android unit.

First time user here and I am wondering if it's normal for the device to be on when engine start and off when engine close.

What I am trying to say if it will make it deteriorate faster this way, or its build for that.
*
Yes, it's similar to how a normal radio work.
But you can also set that the device only turn off it's screen (similar to how you lock your screen of your phone, for a max of 3 days) when the engine is turned off. If you are a daily user of your car, then this should be fine and should not drain your battery much

Hi, guys. Looking for car player with / without Andorid function. Must have at least mirror link so that I can view Waze/ Google Maps on it. Budget around RM1000 , can go slightly higher. Just wondering, is Andorid player a gimmick ? Just worried that it will slow down over time , would mirror link a better options when it comes to navigation ?

Any suggestion ? I saw some Nakamichi / Sounstream brand aorund RM1000. Or anyone can suggest better brand ?
*
If you want to just use waze/spotify, you don't need mirror link. Just Android Auto. Cheapest Android Auto supported HU that I bought was this : https://www.lazada.com.my/products/i2850921...ls.item_title.1
Note that this also says that it supports mirroring. but honestly I don't use it because Android Auto is more than enough

hey guys, been digesting this thread since page 1 till latest for the past 1 hour+..

am looking for a HU for my myvi gen 3.. main purposes are for spotify and navigation only..

seen you guys been talking abt 7862 vs TS10.. does it matter which 1 i chose, if i am just using it for the 2 things i mentioned above?

and roughly what will the price be in the market? went to a car accessories shop in puchong (near lok lok street) and the seller recommended TS18 Mohawk (4+32) for RM980+ :/ after including installation will be around 1100+
*
7862 seems to be going up in price, so RM900+ ish seems about right. I bought mine before Aidilfitri for RM800. Can't find this price anymore :V
If you want something cheaper, TS18 player are around RM500~RM600. I would recommend this if you are not using 360 camera as the 3GB model is more than enough for daily use.

For installation. the rule of thumb is RM60 = install head unit + RM60 = install rear view camera.

Glad to know that the car player that support Android auto isnt that expensive. Yes, I nned Waze, Google MAps , Spotify . Saw some branded HU like Pioneer, Sony , JVC that support Mirrorlink around RM600, but dont' support Android Auto... Do you think that Mirrorlink is usable ? Mirrorlink can only operate on the phone, and cast whatever shown on phone to the HU, right ? Andorid auto means that I can operate directly on screen ?  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
Yep
MirrorLink means you are copying/mirroring whatever is on your screen. AndroidAuto means you have separate view for phone and head unir, which is why I prefer AndroidAuto.

With mirroring, your phone needs to be on all the time. With AA, you can lock your phone and still control via the head unit.

Is the Saga flx in the video? Do you need to get extra casing? You diy to install? How's the performance? i just wanna replace the stock player
*
1 - Yes Saga FL
2 - No casing. Any 7" player SHOULD in theory fit
3 - Yes, I need to DIY. The original player has a curved face plate, while 3rd party head unit has a flat one. So you need some cutting the plastic front to make it fit. Also the aluminium bracket needs some loving and tender hammering. You also need some ISO extender and antenna wire extender (both very cheap) since the origina proton head unit has these cables extends into the back, while third party ones are built into the body itself, so the original cable might not reach it. Luckily Proton uses ISO connectors so you won't need socket converters.
4 - It works well. For an RM200'ish head unit, it detects my phone and runs android auto without fail every time. My only issue (and this is a BLM/FL/FLX issue) is that the radio placement at the bottom means you need to look down to use it. Which is not ideal if you are running waze/google maps. There are some shops that offers modifying your Saga BLM/FL/FLX dash, so your head unit is on the middle of the dashboard instead of down below so you can see it better. But I am not keen on drilling my dashboard to do it sweat.gif
