Mechanical keyboard costs more to make than normal membrane keyboards, it wasn't meant to be a budget option at first. But with more clone switches and adoption of the mechanical keyboards for the past 2-3 years, we're getting all kinds of options. I remember the time when only enthusiasts would go for mechanical keyboards because it costs so much money that we would rather spend the money on RAM or Graphics card upgrades.

If we're talking about rm119 for a mechanical keyboard, expect the manufacturers will cheap out on the materials and features etc. as they spent the money on the switch. But salute Armageddon for offering such a cheap option for those that can't afford but are keen to try mechanical switches.

Spending rm2-300 on a mechanical keyboard is ok, because they'll outlast 3x your rm100 keyboards anytime of the day.

I always spend good money on my keyboards and mouse and monitor, as they are the things we use and see everyday.

I believe 25-30 years ago, i think all the AT  keyboards were mechanical...and it cost like RM20 only.

I only remember some cheapo BTC brand keyboard as my first keyboard, it had a metal plate frame and all. It was 1996/7. I don't think all ATs are mechanical. The first membrane keyboard was introduced in the late 80s. Mine certainly wasn't mechanical. Are you sure those were sold for RM20? Need more inputs from people from the 80s.

When I was in college, those Filcos are pretty popular back then i remember it costs 5-700 with shipping from Japan. Can't remember the exact price. And mechanical keyboards wasn't widely available. Heck Logitech or Razer wasn't even making mechanical keyboards.. I only remember Steelseries was the first among the gaming brands to offer mechanical keyboards to the mass market. correct me if i'm wrong

Cant agree more on spending a bit more for keyboard and mouse, been using a normal logitech keyboard, bought a tecware mech keyboard last 2 years, much better typing experience where the old logitech keyboard will affect my finger when using for too long especially when doing work in Acad and some typing assingments  icon_rolleyes.gif

True that finger fatigue. I'm using a k380 and a DeathAdder 3.5G for work at the moment. Thinking to grab the G Pro or G903 in the upcoming 11.11 sale. Not the best setup but I can work for hours with this two. Logitech is having promo for its G512 Carbon. I think that's the best budget mechanical keyboard if you're willing to spend a bit more vs the Tecware Phantom.
