Last week, out of the blue, Apps on my iphone 11 pro all went kaput... crashed. Plugged in the Mac and it said out of storage... WTF. Reboot took long time the first time, can't delete files or photos because none of the apps work. Reboot again and it went into loop. Try to restore, it hang in error 35. The phone is dead. Check the web, it seems there is a huge thread regarding this out of storage looping issue, some serious bug.

Anyway..

Took it to ITWorld @PJ, by the way, they are an awesome premium Apple Care center in KL. They can't restore the phone either, same with error 35 so i dropped it for hardware fixes...

5 biz days later, i got a brand new iPhone 11 Pro! 11 months old with one month standard warranty left, no Applecare + and Apple replaced a brand new unit for me. Service says Motherbroad crapped out, i say great feacking deal!! My old phone had screen, camera & body scratches, been dropped few times, in the water as well.... i thought they going to chuck it off with water leak and bill me a kidney but i got a brand new unit instead - no cost PLUS additional two months warranty since a repair/replacement unit get 3 months warranty and i got one left. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Kudo to Apple and Kudo to IT World @ PJ. thumbsup.gif

Update : I forgot to claim the free 1 year Apple TV on my last phone, it expired. This replacement phone also give me a 2nd chance to reclaim it and i did. No more mistake.

The replacement was a refurbished phone right, with a white box and everything?

My unit started with N, a replacement. I didn't pay attention to the color of the box but i did ask if that's a brand new or refurb? She mentioned along the line, not a refurb, some country gets refurb but we don't, you can consider them a brand new.

Model number starts with 'N' is refurbished. only 'M' is brand new.

I don't think that's a correct assessment.

F — This device is Apple’s certified refurbishment. Comes with 1 year warranty.
N — Replacement device through an Apple service request. Comes with 3 months warranty

The alphabet used as identifier for Apple devices, as standard practice, you don't get certified refurbs from a replacement unit. It's bounced by *country consumer law. You can only get refurb though Apple certified Refurb vendor or it own store. Apple is very strict about this to prevent costly law suit. If you check Apple replacement FAQ, it says "Your replacement iPhone will be new or equivalent to new." That statement alone could cost them Millions in law suit if they ship you a certified Refurb as replacement.

Most replacement units can be refurbished ones as stated clearly by Apple as per my earlier post but I hardly think that's a bad thing. What's more important is they honour the warranty claim and solve the customer's problems - and I'm glad they did so for you in this case smile.gif

That's specific for Aussie market tho. As the lady mentioned, other country could get refurb as replacement but not here. Yes, true. Either one is better than my 11 months old, screen and camera scratched old iPhone.
