"bash" isn't equivalent to "giving constructive comments"

don't tell me you haven't seen those constantly saying iphone design is shitty and whatnot whenever a new model comes out ?

and btw..."don't" and "can't" have different meanings
*
Ah... there are always both sides to a nod.gif coin and you would need both the good and bad views, as long as they are constructive ones. nod.gif If everybody would be only saying good things and praising the phone then the forums would be a bit stale no?

yeap...

i welcome constructive feedback, not those nonsensical bashing for the sake of bashing

i personally don't go to android or samsung forums and start bashing
*
I understand bro... no matter which thread, there are bound to be such characters. For example, in Samsung threads, there is a Samsung hater forummers label him as "kuli" that appears everytime a new model launches. laugh.gif

11 pro 64GB celcom now selling RM3.2k with normal contract. tempted to go for it but 12 is around the conner.  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

If you are not in a hurry then wait. Since its not much of a discount for the outgoing 11 Pro if you get it now anyway.

Wait for iPhone 12. 64gb is ok probably for seniors. Else 256gb should be the minimum.
*
Haha... Seniors and juniors as well. Kids shouldn't need so much storage space.

yup. hahaha.

i just bought a refurbished iphone X 64 silver for my dad. to me 64GB is not enough but for him who are mostly at home is more than enough. haha.
*
Refurbished as in imported set? How much for it? AFAIK these sets dont come cheap too.

rm1688. bought from a guy who got his iphone x replaced at apple authorised service centre. it is a refurbished one but everything is brand new no matter cosmetic wise or battery (100%). so it is as good as a brand new one except the model number starts with 'N' instead of 'M' on a brand new one.

it is still below the price of a brand new iphone se 64gb (rm1999) which I find it quite a good buy still.

a comparable latest model iphone 11 pro is priced at rm4899. i only spent 1/3 of the price to get a 3 years old brand new phone. i think it is totally worth it.
my logic is iphone can be used for at least 5 years. so divide the price by 5, every year depreciate 20%, 3 years depreciate 60%, so i only spent 34% of the price for the same range of model now, it is still worth it.  tongue.gif
i am sure iPhone x can get 5 versions of iOS supported or even 6 like iPhone 6s or iPhone 5s.

although it only has A11 vs the A13 chip on iphone se. but A11 is still way powerful even now. (i still use my iphone x as my daily driver for almost 3 years now and no slowness - only gaming for too long will have overheat issues thus throttling, but if one only does youtube viewing or web surfing, it is still overpowered.)

the display is certainly nicer than SE becos of OLED and higher resolution. will be more pleasing to look at on a daily basis.
the display is also bigger, to me i will also find iphone se screen size too small, not to mention my dad, i think iphone x the size is still ok.

most importantly, the all screen display will look nicer still over the years than the outdated iphone 8 design on SE.
*
Seems like you really got yourself a good deal then... nod.gif Im very sure the IPhone X still has plenty years of life left. Just that it might need a battery change after 2 years.

Yes, after 2 years the battery capacity will drop below 80%. Actually the price of battery replacement at apple is quite reasonable.
*
Circa Rm200+-. Thats not too bad considering outside repairers will try to rip you off with knockoffs for Rm150. biggrin.gif

Yes correct. Somemore I dun dare to let outside ah Beng shop repair my Apple devices. Last time I have my iPad mini repaired outside and my LTE modem Antenna was swapped out by the dishonest shop.

I would rather spend more to repair at Apple for peace of mind.
*
Sadly this kinda shit do happen. Went for a battery change and turn of my Iphone 5 home button was also spoiled so had to replace on the spot. Needless to say, the battery life was so bad I totally gave up on the phone. The battery life on the new battery was even worst than the one I had to replace. One time lesson. Never again send your good phone to a third party repairer. All con jobs out there. shakehead.gif

Certainly. Good things do not come cheap. This theory is always true.

Especially for newer iPhones with Face ID even better not to let third party repair.
*
Other than them swapping out your hardware, what are th other cons?

Actually, the face mask issue is a real bummer. That's why I ended up getting an iPhone SE 2020 for my wife - it still had a fingerprint reader!
*
Tbh, I have got so used to face unlock I have forgotten about fp unlock.

Face ID is a bit more inconvenient now due to the mask mandate laugh.gif

Ideally we will get an in-display FP reader but knowing Apple, it definitely won't be this year. Apple won't implement anything unless they think it is perfect and unfortunately in-display FP readers are still far from perfect yet.
*
Somehow or rather, I feel Face ID is much more secure and safer. Heck we even use it to unlock so many important apps nowadays it has become so very convenient. Can't bear the thoughts of going back to FP.

If the pandemic drags on, I might have to seriously consider getting a back up SE 2020 for myself just so I don’t have to keep pulling the damn mask down every time I want to access the phone!

Then again, I also need to wear surgical gloves at work... sigh. Looks like I’m stuffed either way.
*
Just an idea, turn off locks when you are using your phone in the office since you would need it unlocked most of the time.

Hmm. That’s something I’ve not considered. I mean, I would still have the locks on the banking apps etc - and my sensitive notes. Good suggestion! Thank you very much!

use simple passcode is better than no lock rite?

i am using 6 digits passcode to overcome this.
*
That's true. Well can use both facial unlock and pin code simultaneously.

QUOTE(attw @ Jul 31 2020, 02:26 PM)
Yeah true. It's very intuitive. I had some issues with the in-display FP reader of the Pogo, which also drove me to let it go earlier than I anticipated.
I would argue the 11 Pro Max will be a very good buy once the price drops 30% smile.gif
*
It will depend on how much the IPhone 12 will be priced..

yup, i am using them simultaneously, I only change the passcode from previous 8 characters password which mixes numbers and alphabets as well as special characters. now left with 6 digits PIN.

only when wearing masks time need to enter the PIN.
*
Bro... try facial recognition with mask on. tongue.gif Anybody tried that before?

tried before already. even follow the tricks online people have taught.

it did not work and i gave up after many many times of tries.  mad.gif

now the current temporarily solution with 6 digits PIN is what works best for me while with mask on.  dry.gif
*
Haha... that's because the camera takes the contours and outline of your face into account. With the mask on, it won't be able to capture anything. laugh.gif

I gave up already. and now no longer a too big issue to me since it is only 6 digits number. if one is using 4 digits will be even easier but of course less secure too.
*
Though Im using 6 digits, I dont think it will be easy to guess 4 numbers. tongue.gif

I do miss fingerprints these days since with the masks on. I guess moving forward most smartphone designs will also have to be disease proof/convenience in the future. Lol.
*
Only option would be an on screen FP sensor which would be a hit and miss. But I think I'm still ok with the facial unlock on the iphone, dont think I would need on screen FP.

Hopefully they will implement the under display FP reader sooner rather than later. They have the patent for it already...

Haha... still think the facial recongition unlock system is still better.

Haha... like mentioned. Use pin to unlock instead to avoid getting frustrated.
