Is Nomos available in MY? If not, probably that's why no many know about it.

I know Nomos because I am currently based overseas. Nomos watches are famous for having high horology value but at a more affordable price. But the small second dial might not suit everyone's taste.
This youtube video gives a good intro to the levels of Nomos watches.

I own a Junghans Meister Chronoscope because I like the Bauhaus style. Maybe will get a Nomos Ahoi later.

finally a nomos thread here

I think not popular in our country because people here who can afford luxury watches usually will spend their money within the swatch group as those are more easily attainable from the mass market

feels like made in germany premium watches not really appreciated within our community also due to brand recognition status

Leica is a Chinese brand that copies the Bauhaus design from Germany.
For real Bauhaus design, go for Junghans, Nomos, Stowa, Junkers, Laco, etc.
It should have the label 'Made in Germany'.

My bad, I remember the Chinese watch brand wrong. It should be FEICE.
They copy the Bauhaus design in their watches. Some people do not realize this.

Haha, the mistake is mine. They only changed the first and the last letter of LEICA to become FEICE which is a homage watch (exact copy of Nomos and Junghans' design but with Seagull movement).

My brain somehow mixed up these two brands sweat.gif

Great that you like the small second dial. I did not like it at first but getting used to it now. I have it on my Junghans watch too.

I like Junghans more because the Bauhaus design was done by Max Bill, generally considered the best student from Bauhaus design school.

I think the lug to lug top to bottom length is too long for smaller wirst.. considering their 38mm with that long straight lugs just don't quite fit in for me

Tried the Neomatik 35mm on while in Singapore. Appears a little small at first but pretty sure it will feel right after a little while.

Also tried the Tangente, a model I wanted a couple years back. I finally tried it on and.... It's so inert. Lifeless. Boring.

Only a few people that are into watches will recognize this brand. Otherwise, from far most people will think this another "Daniel Wellington."

I once went for an interview in a MNC company, spotted a Nomos Tangomat on this German dude which is a hiring manager.

I complimented him that he has a nice watch. We then talked about watches for 10 minutes then continue with the interview brows.gif rclxm9.gif

Brands like Tag Heuer, Rolex, Omega, etc are well known because they spend a lot on marketing (i.e. sport sponsorship, celebrity ambassador, etc).
They do produce good watches but have to sell them at a higher price to cover their marketing budget and AD's commission.

Rolex is one of those marketing mastermind. Just take a look at their ads back in the 60s and 70s.

Just to add, this is the part where Grand Seiko did not do-it-right. Although, they produce insanely good watch.
The spring drive movement, high beat, and the 9F quartz (the best quartz movement in the world), worth to mention their zaratsu polishing also.

But, in terms of brand prestige Rolex is still the king.

love the design since discovering this brand, there are not a single distributor or seller of this brand in msia? It seems the closest is hourglass singapore and even then their selection is limited. I'm tempted to buy directly from Nomos's website but dang it's very pricey.

I straightaway fell in love with the looks of their Nomos Autobahn. A mix of quirky and simple style factors without being overly minimalistic.

German watches dont seem to get as much notice la it seems. Not just Nomos, the whole Glashutte gang (Original, Muhle etc.) with the exception of A. Lange & Sohne. Even brands like Sinn, Archimede, Damasko, Stowa, all fly under the radar.

It'd be great if there was a shop that carried Nomos here in MY, would like to try out the Ludwig and Orion n see how they sit on my wrist.
