Hi,

I would like to have a switch beside my bed which can turn off all lighting at my bed room.
But the Electrician told me, it cannot be done, because I have multiple switch for multiple light.
He said only can be done if one switch to turn on/off all the light. I think he is talking 2-Way Switching like using in staircase (up and down)

I don't have any electronic knowledge, but I don't think it cannot be done, because everything is possible.
After I do some research, come out with this idea(refer to my image).
Which is, if I round the neutral cable to my bed there(Switch D), when I turn off switch D it will prevent the neutral back to DB, then all the light will be turn off isn't?

Will this be works? or any safety concern?
Or Is there any proper way to achieve what I want?

if you don't want to make extra works (wiring/drilling), try to make bypass inside connection between switch A & B to switch C. with A&B remain off state. you just use switch C only to operate all light.

but if your switch A,B and C was in different area then you need consider back your design.

Between the DB going to the switch, you can install a main switch beside your bed. Maybe by using the 20A heater switch. Do not by any way, cut the neutral line because neutral is the silent killer.

just add one switch in between db and switch 1,2,3. you dont use neutral for switching. it is dangerous.

I did this at my house. One switch just under the DB and this switch is connected with multiple fan and lamp switches. But the problem is when you turn off the main switch, other switches will not be turned on.
So, I think it doable but will use a lot of wiring. If a new house under renovation, probably can do it but to add that switch will involve lot of wall hacking (if you want to 'tanam' that wire).

It can be done easily with smart switches. No need special wiring.
I have a switch near my bedroom door. When I go to sleep at night, I press this switch and all the lights (except my bedroom and porch) goes off.

I also have a similar switch at my entrance main door. When I go out I press it and everything goes out.

You can do the same with a switch beside your bed.

A,B,C in same area. It's actually button A,C,B. Each button control 3 light.
I want to control switch D(different area, beside my bed) to switch off all the light.

Indivudual switches are provided by developers because we dont on all lights at night unless .... electricity is 'cheap'

Using motion sensor if on/off lights an issue.

The "One switch just under the DB" you mean is connected with Live cable? Like my last replied comment picture?

I'm planning to install smart switches too.
Is you smart switch requires neutral cable?
Do you have two switch stick together? The neutral cable you just loop from another switch or pull two cable?

Mine don’t need neutral but you can use those with neutral if you want. Yes can loop the neutral but on some situation it might trip the breakers if you got three phase wiring and the lights are from different phases.

Another way is to purchase "remote control" lighting....
All your switches on the wall can be kept turn "on"
"remote control" unit kept on beside table.
If universal type... can switch off all light same time or even switch off individually..

No need to redo wiring or add any switch... just need to remember change battery of the "remote control"

Or can change the switch to remote control switch.. this type harder to find...

This should be ok, but if you have fan at A/B/C, then fan will be turned off too.
Unless you route separate live wire for fan.

Somehow if it's switched off at D (at your bed), then you won't be able to switched on at A/B/C.
Unless you to walk to D (bed) and turn it on biggrin.gif

So, best is 2-way, or smart or remote type of things...

Why you make life so difficult and miserable? Few dongles and switches can solve already. Just you need to pay more

It like switch controlling 2 fan/lamp. One live wire from db go to the switch and another wire out from the switch go to multiple switches.
2 more wires (neutral and earth) directly connected to all your lamp and fan.
Like in your 2nd drawing.

I hope this images help you.
