 HP elitebook 840 G5 Problem

Hi,

I got screen flickering whenver i connect the laptop with charger. If no charging, no issue. Plug in charger. the screen will flickering.

Test the charger with diff laptop, no issue.

Anyone experience this b4?

Already update graphic driver still not working.

u mean short circuit near the charger port? Usb type C.

my colleg call arldy but tat dumb stupid guy sc always ask us to update the driver. When ask what more to update, no response then hung up.

Alredy lodge complaint. While waiting, i just try my luck in here. maybe got solution.

Most likely your motherboard have issue and need to be replaced or repaired.

Driver won't solve anything. Must send to technician for repair

For sure it's sort of repairing case no matter how you look at that matter anyway. Can we do something with it if we want to ? Possibly, then so be it then. Can you please add some more news for me.

Already call hp centre. Cannot do anything. Possibly motherboard issue.

Just get HP to come onsite. That's definitely a hardware issue
EliteBook 840 G5 is quite new so your laptop should still have onsite warranty

You never mention how old is that laptop anyway for basically anything we could have here for something like that. Cause I have never dealt with anything like that for example. How long it could be done really out of my imagination. Where can we go about that ? I hope you do matter.

You not used to HP warranty claim stuffs. So let me give you some help here. Usually when you call 1800 88 8588, select Bahasa Melayu, if you select English, your call will be transferred to India call center. I really hate those people over there, they will try very hard to make your life difficult to claim warranty , ask you do this la, that la... very hard for them to yield/give up and just arrange for onsite engineer to settle the problem.
Bahasa Melayu channel is abit easier to claim. Usually if you report a hardware failure, you go https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsuppo...t/pc-diags.html and install the diagnostic tool. You run the diagnostic tool and if got error code, just provide them. Easy. If problems like cannot on at all, those stuffs, just tell that you already swap power adaptor and still no power. Problem solved.

This model G5 more than a year already, but I did not pick it for my company because during my initial testing, the demo unit HP gave me got a weird fan whining sound, so I opted for the 840R G4 instead which is a G4 chassis with a Kaby Lake Refresh CPU . My place already have 840 G6 for few months, it is a Whiskey Lake CPU refresh but using similar chassis to the G5. But to be fair, we are 1 of the earliest adopters of HP machines. We buy direct from HP instead of reseller because we have enough volume.

But 840 G3 , G4 , G4R all have 1 common issue I encounter almost every month. Battery bloated. So becareful with the bottom cover suddenly feels uneven on the table. That is a sign.

I do not get how people can make such bad laptops today, I have something like ASUS K75DE which is like 7 years old and I just put SSD there along with some memory addition of upto 8GB there and then I realised it's great machine, it have quality materials and battery with it.

I bought the 840 G4 from a friend of friend and it has the same issue as yours. I tried everything and end up resolving it by simply updating my drivers and hotkey settings from the official HP website. Hopefully this method works for you, do cross check your drivers and window updates...
