find out where the tower is using cellmapper app & cellmapper maps

https://www.cellmapper.net/map?MCC=502&MNC=11

borrow  neighbour TM UnifiAir sim card. Ask neighbour  for help. Seem like neighbour understand how mobile wireless work. He like DIY guy who dont care what coverage maps said

MTK soc smartphone can select band with Super MTK engineering app. Get one 'no ads' versions.

Band 5 is slow. Look like you don't have free unifi bebas sim card either.

Just out of curiosity, how effective is this for those out of coverage network or weak signals?

If you got samsung phone or any rooted android phone. You cqn lock 4G and disable band 5 and test the speed is ok or not. Worst case just cancel the sim. UnifiAir use LTE band 38 and 40 like yes4G

Thanks bro, this is what i need to know. I'm currently using Meizu note 6, Nougat/Flyme OS, it's not rooted. I supports 4g(based on my maxis sim data) and it's quite good.
But about the disable band 5 things, i don't what is that, care to run me through that? Need to use software, that requires rooting ?
Also i can use my brothers Samsung Note x(will update here soon).
Thanks again.

Try with the Unifi Postpaid sim card, there is no contract. You can get it from TM point near you.

Yes u can get sim only. This 1 no contract. Advanced payment rm100.

But must use hp / mifi modem that support 2300 MHz TD-LTE (Band40).

U can view the phone that support LTE band 40 here:
https://m.gsmarena.com/results.php3?s4Gs=40

for modem, can try refer here - https://www.4gltemall.com/ue-by-spectrum/ba...it=25&mode=list

Checked my phone(Meizu M6 Note), https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/ecb1453d ,
it says got support LTE-TDD 2300MHZ(B40) , it is same as TD-LTE (Band40) ?
i guess will get the sim and test the speed via hotspot than.

i tot streamyx price already fixed at rm89 or rm69?
*
Thats what i myself read from internet. But thats not the case.
And i have feeling like being cheated. Price were never reduced, still at RM110.
The actual speed, the stable 4mps is also no more. Instead getting 1-2mps kind of speed, ping was really bad, despite being streamyx.
Called last week(5th times year) to which they reset my port i get speed close to 4mps, and after a week, start s*** again.
And they dare to ask if they should open a report and tell, only if Tm fault, free of charge, otherwise got extra charges.

This sounds really bad. So typical of TM to shift the blame and victimize their customers. Switch if there is a better option or choice instead of being at their mercy.

If your phone not rooted cant lock band. If rooted can download network signal tools in play store and disable any band that you want. Unifi Air uses band 38 and 40. But unifi mobile uses band 5 (850Mhz) band 38 (2600Mhz) band 40 (2300Mhz). If you put in sim card to your phone chances are ur phone will see band 5 signal is stronger because 850Mhz can penetrate further and deeper than higher frequency like 2300 and 2600. Our smartphone is really a dumbphone cause they only measure signal strength but not the speed that it has. Usually band 5 is congested and speed is less than 5mbps for my case. So thats why i disable band 5 on my phone.
As for samsung phone there is hidden menu accessible by ussd codes that can let you disable any unwanted LTE band. I forgot what the code is, google away.

Why return when they have full coverage with decent speeds in your area?

Even their most cost effectively plan, have data lmited, usually maxed at 60gb, i cry, lol.
Maxis called today, just to inform they are srry that my area is not under their coverage.
I think if Tsunami come, my area sure go under radar very quick.

60GB for today's modern age is just too little or unacceptable. Should try scouting around for one that offers unlimited quota but you might have to bear with the limiting speed. Better than nothing.

Tsunami attack? Sounds dangerous and serious but in Malaysia I doubt that happens very often, especially after the 2004 incident. Stay safe Bro ✌
