I bought the MiBox3 and I find it a bit underpowered for 4k display. But for the price, I guess you can't complain.

tbh, don't be stingy on spending for streaming devices. I got my Amazon Fire TV Cube for only Rm350 during Black Friday sale last year. On Shopee retail price starts from Rm520

only nvidia shield is worth buying.. or amazon firecube

thought of that as well, but finance restraint and I just wanted to get something cheap to play around.
most of the time I stream on my PC anyway.

I'm using both Apple TV 4K and Fire TV Cube. So I can enjoy the stability of both tvOS and the freedom of Android based OS No regret on these 2 devices. Mibox is cheap but based on the streaming group that I join, there are complains where the devices reboots, lags, freezes. For me, if it's gonna irritates me later, not worth it to pay cheap

Depend on what you plan to do with it. If just simple streaming with no netflix, that TX3 mini which cost less than RM150 also can. If you want 4k with netflix support, get what other reply told you.

just checked Fire TV Cube on Lazada, its about my budget, will shortlist that.

ya, mi box got its own issues, played with the mibox 4 at friend's house, it lag at times, and stutter while streaming local 4k content

One of the step, there is a pop up message: Do you have an Android Phone or tablet?
- Does this mean that If I do not have Android Phone or tablet, I am not able to use Android TV Box?
( btw I only have Apple Iphone and IPad )

....usually 99% out ofthe time it means if u hav andriod phone / tablet, u can access to their program too, and u may use ur phone tablet act as remote controller.

If you wanna stream from legit service like netflix, hulu you’ll need media player that supports drm (for hd support otherwise stuck with sd only) go for:

Amazon fire tv
Mibox (intl version)
Nvidia shield tv (newer model coming this month)
Apple tv (if you’re apple fan)

If you wanna just use for playback from hdd or ahem2 service can just go for any cheap china box.

Used for almost a year now. Everything is good kecuali that delay/slow wake up thinggy.

I used it to turn on/off my tv/soundbar, increase/decrease soundbar volume. change my tv hdmi input number, search for movies, tv shows, or just asking random question to Alexa.

Then u are able to maximise your apple tv plus not sure u have the amplifier to be paired to.

Yeah the Nvidia shield tv is a bit overkill. I was previously a mibox user and only upgraded because some of the games that my son enjoyed playing was laggy on the mibox.

The rm2xx mibox running Android TV should do fine for most use cases. I have a couple of friends using it, happily running YouTube, Netflix, Plex, Kodi etc. Not to mention being able to Google Cast from both Android and iOS devices.

tvbox now very ez to setup and use already.
as long got internet & hdmi tv, can use, no need smart tv.

let me know if need more explanation, sold quite a number of units already.

Looking at your box, the specs are truly outdated for sure yet super expensive but was wondering if MCMC approved the apps install in it too? Or only the basic box is approved but apps were loaded after obtaining MCMC cert?

I would say the box is mcmc approved. Don't know how mcmc will govern the apps but you can get netflix, youtube etc in the android tv playstore.
