QUOTE The TIOBE Programming Community index is an indicator of the popularity of programming languages. The index is updated once a month. The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers world-wide, courses and third party vendors. Popular search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Amazon, YouTube and Baidu are used to calculate the ratings. It is important to note that the TIOBE index is not about the best programming language or the language in which most lines of code have been written. https://www.tiobe.com/tiobe-index/ This post has been edited by Mussel: Oct 17 2019, 01:03 PM

QUOTE(Zoom777 @ Sep 29 2022, 08:09 PM) Unlike in 2019, now Python is No. 1. In production environment, team may not choose top n language. Features, development time, ability with new tools, which could be hard to estimate progress and may cause unforeseen bugs. Especially for extend / new features of existing project. Interesting news : Ask HN: Inherited the worst code and tech team I have ever seen. these ranks shouldnt mean much. each languages are use for different purpose. It shouldnt mean that one language is better than the other. C is second on the list, doesnt mean your gonna be using C for web programming.
