Currently planning to do L shape corner entry shower screen for my bathroom like this:

Attached Image

But everywhere i see the min size needed is 900mm x 900mm (Onitek & Reliance included).

The space i have is a little smaller (800mm x 820mm). Already asked 1-2 glass guy to come over and they said too small to do L shape because the door will be small and hence wobbly (due to less weight).

So does it help if i increase the glass thickness to 12mm to increase the weight to provide stable sliding movement?

Since Onitek & Reliance seems to be using 6mm glass only so even with 900mm space they may not be as heavy as 800mm with 12mm glass.

Appreciate the help.

Re-checked and it seems they have many variants from 6mm to 8mm to 10mm, haven't got their advice though since the one who said cannot do is independent glass contractor.

Just want to get different opinions since the said contractor may not have enough experience (no offence to glass contractor).

I think you may not be able to improve upon the "wobbly" feeling as from my observation the L shape doors is the hanging design (it is hanging on the top rail)
If you don't mind installing a track below, door size and glass thickness will not matter that much.

Lol i am not sure bro, it’s not that hard if you know how to install screws and wall plugs but better let the pros do it.

L shape is more expensive than those typical wall to wall ones.

Plus i asked for ajiya brand glass, so more expensive

Bumping this thread, a bit similar to TS issue last time, my shower screen height can only be 180cm as apposed to 200cm (due to window). Anybody has any glass contractor that can recommend to do this?

The purpose of a shower screen is to have one area dirty and wet and not the entire bathroom.

It isn't hard. But you do need to be cleaning it weekly or at least monthly with a glass cleaner. Water streak + body wash and shampoo splashes, if not rinsed off will cause staining of the glass. Overtime, those streaks will be harder to clean off.

I have been using tempered glass in showers in my previous condo for 12 years, and my current house for over 4 years. I have no issue with stains as I clean them frequently. Of course it won't look brand new, but it's clean enough without much streaks.

I normally after shower with use a rubber squeegee (a handle with rubber like wipers) and just drag off water from the glass. It helps.
