its just so stupid to introduce repetitive and linear rpg games to new ds owners.

the better games for intro ds owners should be those that utilizes the touch screen alot like wario ware, cooking mama, brain train, etc. Otherwise fast paces games like mario kart ds or even voice interactive games like nintendogs.

ff3? lunar? how... boring

The threadstarter did ask for RPG games, twice. You might want to read the first post, again.

Hi all. First time starting a new thread on Low Yat. Anyway, i might be getting a DS Lite when my exams are over. So i was wondering any good RPG games to introduce? I'll definitely be getting Pokemon. But i want to get another game to keep me busy. I've been thinking of Final Fantasy 3, The legend of Zelda:Phatom Hourglass. What do you guys think? Zelda might not be english yet, so i think i might be skipping that for now. So what about Final Fantasy? Whats your comments? And any good RPG games for the DS? I've read the FAQ for DS already, but the must have for new owners doenst really attract me much. Hope you guys can help.

As for me, how bout Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time? I know it's a Mario game, but quite fun (if you can get past the grind). I was half-expecting someone to recommend Chocobo Tales.

SMART BOMB FIRED! DAMAGE! 0!

U might want to see carefully what the fellow asked for before firing bombs in the wrong direction. Ur intention is well noted for its good will but its no excuse to blatantly shoot everyone

I would suggest Mario: Partners in Time for some intersting RPG. FF 3 Is good but not THAT good untill it warrant you to be a MUST get unless ur a hardcore fan.

The other one that I would suggest you avoid is Pokemon as its a boring repetitive game UNLESS ur a hardcore fan again or You NEVER touched the game before

Lastly, You can TRY Spectrobe. Intersting RPG, Touch Screen added and also not bad RPG with some action. It might tick ur fancy. It didnt tick mine.

Hows the replay value?
*
Replay value 1 : you get to bully those monsters again since you will bring over all your previous power-ups and eq
Replay value 2 : after completing the game, you will unlock a special area where there are 100 levels of monsters. Something similar to Onimusha's Dark Realm if you played that game before

Somehow Mario games dont interest me. Hehe. No offence though. Well i'd just like an extra game to play when i get bored of Pokemon. I'd just prefer a long RPG, but other genres would do fine. Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center doesnt really interest me too.
*
OT but just wanna say something. I first had a similar impression of Phoenix Wright, thinking that it's nothing great and wouldn't interest me. Boy was I seriously dead wrong. Phoenix Wright is definitely one of the best games you can get on the DS

if you want value for money, go for FF III, it'll last you for a very long time, i don't mind the repetitive at all cause i play for the graphics, music and storyline... the opening CGI is jaw dropping cool! rclxms.gif

definitely gonna get FF IV remake thumbup.gif

Well I am somewhat attached to Pokemon. Dunno why, but maybe its because its the first game i played on any console i owned. And thats on my Limited Edition Pokemon GameBoy Colour. That may be the reason. Hehe.

And why have i forgotten about spectrobe? Saw it back awhile ago when i was still considering to get a DS. Thankz might look up on that game and consider it.

There seems to be quite a replay value for Lunar Knights. Might consider that too. I'll think about Phoenix Wright though. Not really interested. Will consider.

BTW, any comments for Animal Crossings: Wild World?

I disagree with FFIII being value for money. It IS fun to go through it once. But you will be hard pressed to go through it for a second round because the storyline is weaker than the other FFs, not to mention the storyline is boring. Furthermore, I see not much character development in FF3. It's as if the FFIII DS remake only remade the start to fit the new names and personalities of the remake characters and thats it. The rest seems VERY lacking, as if it's just ported word for word from the NES original after that.

Not to mention the save system is terrible. I understand there is a quicksave option, but was there really a need to have extremely long dungeons without a save point? Oh, and if you died at the boss, you have to start ALL the way at the front since the quicksave option does NOTHING to save you here. I find myself having to grind for levels instead of charging head on to the boss to ensure my "safety" vs. the boss. And that is not fun.

And finally, having to send mails on Wi-Fi to unlock the secrets is a complete waste. There was no need for this "feature" whatsoever.

Now, the only reason I can think of that it's value for money is the fact there are several jobs (17 I think) and you can replay the game with different jobs all the time. But you might as well stick with one file and play all 17 jobs from there.

Don't get me wrong, I liked FF3 when it came out. The music, graphics, gameplay at that point I thought was good. But as time passed, the game seriously sunk deeper and deeper to a point that it was boring.

Ultimately, it is up to you to decide, but if you ask me, FF3 is not worth the money.

Phoenix Wright is great on the first time you're playing it. Second time onwards, it's like reading a book - you already know what to do, so it depends whether you like the series enough to replay it.

Not to be an ass but I am pretty sure that the FAQ HERE has one post particularly catered for New DS Owner. Specifically 10 recommended games.

fifa 07 ..its quite nice ..the graphics from far arent that bad but when it is close up..not really nice ..like u cant even identify that certain player.

but it is fun..like the normal ps2 game but now on the ds.lots of buttons and combinations.also can select in-game tactics.of course , if u are not a fan of football, dun waste ur money on this game..=D

Hmm, I wanted to recommend Elite Beat Agents as well but the thread starter said he wants RPG, so I didn't say anything.
