Would there be a point to buy a new router for less ping time then?

Also, good post about the 802.11ax, but is there any point to buying a router that provides 6Gbps if our ISPs for home use dont provide those speeds?

Nope. I m currently using 500 Mbps , was using 100 Mbps before , not much different in almost everything. Your bandwidth might be faster but no point if servers and hardware can't keep up with you.

tell you what

u find somebody who willing to borrow you a better router, then check the results

then u can make official complaint to tm

802.11ax still new, so relax, more routers/device that support wifi 6 coming soon. just like wifi 5 ( ac ). even today not every device support wifi 5 ( ac ) especially budget hp

and I am sure our fiber provider will increase the speed later on. otherwise no point having wifi 6 then

100mbps is enough from my experience

I am using ASUS RT-AC58U, my smart tv all got build in wifi 2.4/5ghz, the router is on 2nd floor, tvs all at 10/12 meters from the router . I have no problem playing netflix 4k on them, no lag.
still on my habit : reset the router every morning.

Overpower/overkill.

I don't think you need that.

Unless you buy it for office use or family.

For single use, naahh

that mesh wifi u can purchase later from outside if the need arised. shopee/lazada can give u better deal.

based on my experience with unifi and meksis, both also come within stipulated time . these fellas are just contractors .

all the best bro

I can get a router, but I wonder how much I should spend before I get diminishing returns on ping and latency.
To put it another way, what's the best router I can get now that would improve ping and latency over the default UNIFI D Link router.

I could get the R7800 Netgear or any 802.11ax router, however my concern is if I'll be able to utilize it fully within the lifespan of the router.
TM just introduced bandwith in the hundreds last year after it was available globally many years before that, how long until they can catch up to match the capacities offered by routers today?

If you want to get mesh, I can recommend the TP Link Deco M3/M5. I have both models, and they're great.

Even with the default TM D-Link router, I can get 100 mbps download consistently with upload of 50 - 70 mbps.

unless u torrent 24.7 that 800mbps package might be worth while

until 4K/8K become standard ...

Agreed. Total overkill. Hardly torrent anything now with the advent of Netflix / Hulu / Spotify etc.
Sometimes I run speed test for syok sendiri tongue.gif

Need help guys. Any idea why is the 100mbps plan named as Unifi Lite instead of Unifi?

I thought Unifi Lite is the new name for Streamyx but the unifi chat specialist confirmed that this is fiber broadband.
