Is this true? Upgrading macbook ram to 2GB will cost me rm799 per 1Gb stick, total of rm1598. At least this was what the guy at Machines, MV quoted to me. Searching the web I could actually get it online from usd97++ which is way cheaper, if i do it myself. IMHO this is quite a rip-off.
White MB 2.16Ghz rm4999 upgrade to 2GB ram rm1598 total = rm6597
Wow. Considering when lowest spec of MBP costs rm7499 (2Gb ram is a standard)

My friend got Kingston 1GB DDR2 X2 for his Apple MacBook (RM4399 model). He only paid RM300 altogether at Lowyat Plaza.

I just upgrade to single Kingston KTA 2GB Ram stick for intel-Imac @ RM799 from Apple Centre in Lowyat. The price for Apple RAM has been dropped. The price for 1GB stick only RM399/-.

Shipping (FedEx International Priority) cost USD 34 though.... But since I was also getting a 250Gb Harddisk upgrade.....

RM799 is the price for Apple Tested RAMs.....so it's more expensive(actually a lot expensive)....about 76radius's price i dunno...didnt go do reseach on ram prices but all this while apple's RAMs are at the RM700++ region.... alternatively, u could use value rams..... see here http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...5668&hl=lokgotz

2 x 1GB sticks of Apple tested RAM at store.apple.com is US$175 which converts to less than RM 700 total for the 2GB upgrade. I don't see why Machines prices should be more expensive than Apple's prices unless: - they already bought the RAM way back when prices were a lot higher and are still trying to pass the cost to the customer - their margins on Apple stuff isn't high enough Be an educated customer, don't get conned!
