Hi
Wondering if I can use IBKR to transfer in foreign share certificate? Specifically from LSE. Anyone tried before?

Having some shares of a UK-based company while working, now resigned but don't plan to sell it.

If you manage to do it, please report back here and let us know the charges etc.

Currently checking.

My situation is such:
1) I do not own the shares. The share certificate belongs to my father.
2) I am checking the possibility of transferring the ownership to me.
3) And then transferring it to a broker (of my choice). Or if whether it is even necessary if it's just for holding purpose.

I'm not sure if anyone faced a similar situation.

Same charges as US shares, but careful of ADR pass-through fees when you collect dividend. They didn't state the actual amount as it differs from one custodian bank to another.

No problem.

The list of custodian banks that will incur charges are somewhat outdated though. Unilever Plc is not in Deutsche Bank's list but I am still charged a few cents of fees, so beware of that. Anyway, IB will send a notice to you via message center if the particular ADR's custodian bank will charge you the pass-through fees, so keep an eye on the message center notification. And check the dividend section of the daily report on IBKR's online portal around ex-date, the fees will show up there.

Thanks for the advice! Really appreciate it. Few cents ok la for small potato like me. Though not sure about the dividends.

I can give you a rough picture with my experience. I have 8 Unilever ADRs, the most recent dividend declared per ADR is 0.4975 USD per share, I am charged a total of 0.04 USD of pass-through fee (for all 8 units). So it is about (0.04/8)/0.4975 or 1% of your dividend.

Thanks bro! Ouch. A bit sucks though still okay compared to local brokers, or nominee accounts and such.
