Oh pardon my ignorance, I was on the polar opposite of mindset: GLC means China wouldn't fine/sanction their own companies, so flourish under government's care... I forgot they also rely on international (US big bro)'s investors 😅

Either one only, you can't be either. I just use margin account but don't use the leverage. Much easier for day to day usage.

Ah, to grossly simplify it, the primary benefit of margin account is that you can borrow money from IBKR using your stocks/net asset as collateral. e.g. you own 1000 USD worth of $MSFT, you can use that as collateral to get an extra 500~1000USD worth of buying power. That's called leveraging.

But if you enable margin account, but don't actually spend money you don't have and treat it as a cash account, you will get benefits such as not needing to wait for settlement, e.g. waiting for deposits to clear, waiting your stocks sold to settle before withdrawing it or buying other stocks, etc.

just did a transfer from Wise to IBKR last Friday. Usually I would receive it on Monday.. but until now can't see the money.

it is a bigger amount than usual. Anyone experienced such delays before?

Hope I dont have to wait till 5 working days for it. No email nothing from IBKR also, Wise side said money has been sent. I used back my favourites in Wise after last successful transfer to IBKR, double checked details there all correct.

Logged a ticket to IBKR also but as usual they slow to respond.

Coz it is cheaper. Ziet Invest video got compare both. Cimb SG for Malaysians we need do x2 currency conversion, at Wise then at IBKR .

But imo after this likely I will use cimb sg. Can’t wait like this not knowing what’s going on.

That's very fast. Mine is usually 30 min to an hour. When did you often do the transfer? Is it during office hours/lunch time/morning/afternoon?

Can I know what is the current cheapest way to deposit fund into IBKR. I have been using the WISE-IBKR integration method since this feature was introduced. However, recently I stumbled on one of Ziet YT Shorts where he suggested that, for people that have a CIMB SG account, can save some money by doing the following:

1. Transferring MYR from CIMB MY to CIMB SG (receive in SGD)
2. Transfer from CIMB SG to IBKR (receive in SGD)
3. Convert SGD to USD on IBKR

After some research, I have also saw that a Redditors on MalaysianPF mentioning the same thing, quoted "Cheapest method will be CIMB MY (during working hour)> CIMB SG > IBKR. Easiest method will be through Wise directly.".

Anyone have any experience or insights comparing WISE-IBKR integration method with this method?
