QUOTE(heyamazingpeople @ Apr 22 2020, 07:33 PM) Transfer wise is that fast? Yeap TW is crazy good. I transfer money to a IB, Australia and Thailand and they all reach within 4-6 hours. I think even i transfer directly from SG Bank to IBKR also take like 2 hours fastest. How long transferwise will reach the bank account if one initiated a remittances from one country bank to another country bank? QUOTE(madman.com @ Apr 22 2020, 07:43 PM) Convert them to required currency. |

QUOTE(madman.com @ Apr 22 2020, 08:21 PM) If u base in msia and u need to trade usd through ibkr, i dont think u shld go through transferwise. Bcoz u need to pay 2times of the exchange rate, and also need to pay your euro bank receiver bank fee. I transferred Euros straight to IB, not a receiver bank and no fees for receiving funds.I transferred 30k MYR yesterday and after 2 transfers, Myr to Eur to USD, I was only off 40USD from google's spot rate. I did that all in under 3mins and could trade in 4 hours. 830pm transfer out and 12.17am available for trade in IB and just in time to buy some dips last night. Will the local banks do better than the above? I don't think so. |

When I opened for a friend, the money was remitted thru TransferWise. It hit the account but account not opened due to further due d by TSG. They wanted more documents before they proceeded.

Just crossed 100k balance in my tsg.
Anyone know how easy it is to switch to pure ibkr? Any obvious advantages to switch apart from low margin rates and cheaper trades? |

QUOTE(Yggdrasil @ Aug 27 2020, 02:55 AM) No monthly fee Right good point. Frankly just the margin itself should be strong incentive enough to switch to pure ibkr.Reach $110,000 then can apply portfolio margin which supposedly lowers your maintenance margin by a lot. So can borrow more without risk of getting margin call. |

QUOTE(milque @ Aug 28 2020, 11:57 PM) Hi I just opened an IBKR account, and made my first SGD funds transfer through Transferwise. I just thought of something. How does Interactive Brokers know that the funds received from Transferwise is for my IBKR account? When using Transferwise, I only needed to key in IBKR account number and bank name as transfer details. It didn't ask me to key in the any identifying number that would route the funds to my IBKR account ie. payment reference etc. Any thoughts? A few times I forgot to put in the ref code. Ibkr managed to find my transaction after a week. TW has a box to put in your ref code btw. |

Ibkr is worth the switch just for the low interest rates and margin.
I have a portfolio margin with a maintenance margin of circa 18%. Mighty useful and it's where i draw for emergency or when opportunities pop up. |
