Also, for HKEX, it also very well depends on the stock which you are purchasing too. For example,

Tencent: min lot is 100 units (i.e. 1 lot = 100 units)
China maple leaf: min lot is 2000 units (i.e. 1 lot = 2000 units)

For US, as mentioned, minimum is 1 share. Though, for fractional shares which was mentioned too, I had friends trading it, but never explored it personally.
