Hi all,
Can I check the current best (safe and cheapest cost) for transferring large amount (6 digits) to IBKR from Malaysia?
Is it still transfer to SG bank then from SG bank to IBKR Citibank SG account then covert from there? I notice lately from IBKR browser portal now they have a link/button to convert the currency... no more confusing conversion using the IBKR windows app....
Or possible now to just convert to USD in Malaysia USD account, eg HSBC Malaysia, then TT to IBKR directly?
When I go IBKR website they got confusing (at least to me) instructions to wire via ACH etc. Many thanks for advices.
Yesterday I checked if I go through Rakuten, the difference compared to online rate is about 0.6%. Of course the transaction fee a lot higher than trading in IBKR, but if amount is big works out to be 0.5 to 1% more. Meaning total costs around 1 to 1.5%. I am referring to buying US ETF. Rakuten fee rm100 cap, and stamp duty rm200 max.
I read from news that DUIT and PAYNOW in some kind of collaboration that will do instant currency transfer at minimal rate, resulting in money changers needing a new business model. Hope it comes soon...
