What's SOW? How about calling them? I believe HK number. Or request them to call you. IBKR called me from HK before... Lol. Just to tell me lockdown period cannot send me the security card.

I find Sunway Money's rate the best but it's competitive only during office hours and their support suck

Well there is a saying.

Penny wise pound foolish.

Might as well get the current discounted stock if you think it to be so.

😄 4-5% is not penny and it's not a sure win

Thus you are not seeing the bigger picture.

Just to save a penny you miss the opportunity cost associated with it.

Well, your money your choice but if a good company is in a discounted price, wouldn't you straight away get that opportunity regardless?

😄 many considerations when it's a substantial amount

Then you are trying to invest too much.
There is also a saying.
Invest in the amount that t you are willing to lose.

Start small first then.

Substantial amount and too much is 2 different things 😄

EUR CHF GBP quite beaten down... can invest in those markets first... pivot to us market later...

anyways can't run away from forex costs once you decide to go out...
*
That's what I'm doing, go EUR and back to USD when rates improve, just my believe that USD at this rate is unsustainable.

Just gauging other investors investment strategy, didn't expect to be lectured, everybody's got their own strategies

all along same bank details I thought if use Wise? Can check Ziet invest youtube here on the steps:

Contact Wise or IBKR also they can't help.
Wise the moment sent out money they wash hand liao. Can't track anything.

As for IBKR, Direct ACH transfer they can't track.. if SG CIMB send money to them using Bank Wire then only they can track.
Hence this step safer and faster, steps here:

but slightly more expensive unless if you send a large amount of SGD. Due to the fixed USD2 per conversion in IBKR from SGD currency to USD.
*
Used to send to IBKR 044000804 but now it's 021000021 - from Wise. Old was 2-3 working days and fund available, new is 4-5 working days. Sent from Wise on 24th May, IBKR receive on 25th and available only on 1st June but till now still on hold. Been funding IBKR for about a year, no such delay

Contacted their CS but no reply. It seems it's their SOP for fund transfer if you read their FAQ

I'll send a small amount to the old account to see if it still works. Old bank account number is our IBKR account number plus 4 digita in front but new is completely different, no IBKR account number in bank account

Dear Valued Client,

During a routine review of your IBKR account, the IBKR Compliance Department had noted your deposits from Wise Inc.
Please note that IBKR typically does not allow third-party deposits. All deposits should come from an account in your name.

Going forward, IBKR asks you to refrain from this type of activity. This activity is not in line with IBKR policy, and continuing activity of this type may result in restrictions to your account.

Thank you,
IBKR Compliance Department

Hi all,

Can I check the current best (safe and cheapest cost) for transferring large amount (6 digits) to IBKR from Malaysia?

Is it still transfer to SG bank then from SG bank to IBKR Citibank SG account then covert from there? I notice lately from IBKR browser portal now they have a link/button to convert the currency... no more confusing conversion using the IBKR windows app....

Or possible now to just convert to USD in Malaysia USD account, eg HSBC Malaysia, then TT to IBKR directly?

When I go IBKR website they got confusing (at least to me) instructions to wire via ACH etc. Many thanks for advices.

Yesterday I checked if I go through Rakuten, the difference compared to online rate is about 0.6%. Of course the transaction fee a lot higher than trading in IBKR, but if amount is big works out to be 0.5 to 1% more. Meaning total costs around 1 to 1.5%. I am referring to buying US ETF. Rakuten fee rm100 cap, and stamp duty rm200 max.

I read from news that DUIT and PAYNOW in some kind of collaboration that will do instant currency transfer at minimal rate, resulting in money changers needing a new business model. Hope it comes soon...

Can use both Wise and Sunway Money (MYR30k/day each) 4 days will be close to a quarter million

I have about USD30K idling in IBKR after trimming losses, need some idea where to park it while waiting for this storm to blow over, maybe 2nd half 2023. T-bills?

You got CDP account in SG? Or US green card holder? Then can try SG T-bills or US T-bills purchased via TreasuryDirect. https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/....6813629/page-3

Otherwise, you can only access secondary market of T-bills.

You can do so via IB. But upfront charge is 5 USD. https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/prici...sions-bonds.php

Steps to buy via IB: https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/...#post-143589143

Thanks for the reply, no CDP account, no green card 😔
Have activated the bond buying option, will look into that. Tq
