QUOTE(Yggdrasil @ May 6 2020, 06:33 PM) Don't need. For CIMB go CIMB SG website to open. For Maybank, just walk into the branch. Yes, you need to be physically there. Tell the ticket person that you want to open bank account in SG then they will direct you from there. QUOTE(soundworks @ May 31 2020, 09:17 PM) Unfortunately to open you need a work permit etc. I called the hotline and they said CIMB Malaysia can only link if you already have a SG account. Otherwise you can go the CIMB Preferred route but you need 250k to even begin lol

QUOTE(lecutus @ May 14 2020, 06:01 PM) Good news - it looks like Transferwise have changed their minds about closing their Borderless Accounts for Malaysians. Just received an email today my Borderless Account will remain open. QUOTE(Syncing @ Jun 2 2020, 11:13 PM) However, TW Borderless account is not available at the moment for Malaysia? I just checked and its still not available. I guess whoever who opened their TW Borderless account before they removed it can still use it. QUOTE(moosset @ Jun 3 2020, 12:23 AM) Oh yes. You're right! Too bad. They have changed their mind again but this time, only new users in Thailand; new users in Malaysia excluded. .......have decided to no longer close borderless for new or existing users in Thailand, or for existing users in Malaysia.Reference for others: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4953197did i miss out something? another u-turn again?

QUOTE(moosset @ Jun 3 2020, 01:59 AM) I think the final u-turn is, if you're an existing TW user, you can have borderless account. If you're a new TW user from M'sia, then no. That's why I always advocate open as many accounts as possible - InstaRem, TW, MoneyMatch, Revolut, CIMB SG, MBB SG, BigPay, TnG, whatever, just open all - as policy like this can change anytime. I read in another thread that one user wanted to close his bank account in HK and I was like, hmmm .... not very smart! yes, indeed. I regret closing my UK and AU account.

recently I just opened FSM SG.
I tested and found that comparatively, TSG is still cheaper in terms of charges compared to FSM SG.
Besides cheaper charges, what are the differences between the two? e.g. any benefit using FSM SG?
Anyone could help to clear my mind? TQ TQ

QUOTE(tadashi987 @ Jun 13 2020, 10:30 PM) FSM SG charge dividend handling fee for foreign share also so that means anyhow, TSG is still cheaper and better option??

QUOTE(gashout @ Jul 10 2020, 11:21 PM) Hi all. Need your help. I don't have sg account. All my banks are in Malaysia at the moment. My IB account has been activated, so is it best for me to approach local bank to do transfer wise to IB? But where's the details for me to send fund? I don't trade often. Maybe once a month. And I hate monthly charges purely for maintanence. Appreciate your help in this matter. Thanks how you activate your IB account? it is exact same way to transfer money to your IB account. Sg account is to ease withdrawal not a must for transfer to IB. if you are investing at low amount, use white label, i.e. tradestation global. no monthly fee please read the past few posts. it has been discussing what you are asking too. a friend of mine transferred USD via transferwise for account opening, the account was approved very fast soon after funding, but the fund was not projected into the account even after days of chasing CS.
not sure if it is now quicker on processing, leaving the account opening issue, or it is still 1-2 weeks clearance process.....
