If I use Fintech eventual rate also around 0.5% and above

i think with moneymatch i can narrow down to 0.3-0.4%. i think even Hoshiyuu noticed the same rate also

Wise direct deduction is painful.

if opening CIMB sg is not an option, use Wise -> ACH -> IBKR instead to save a bit on fees. the wise->direct->IBKR is more expensive

we go through singapore to save on fees. since you mention instarem, i decide to log in and calculate. the fees is 0.58%, which is still expensive compared to moneymatch 0.3%
instarem wise

--update--
oh those are first time fees, if subsequent, i'll be charged RM90 and not RM45.xx

see if your IBKR screen allows you to select SGD, if it does, then you can choose to try to open a SG bank account

TaiGoh i can't find CSPX in fractional shares list. only fractional shares can be used for recurring investment https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=45718.
the list is not directly accessible, u need to click on the link in Step 1, then click on link in Step 2

Small update, if you do not have any balance at all, it will not borrow money for you even on margin account. Pretty good system.

possible bug on IBKR. even so, if u manually convert your currency, U$0.35 commission fees is still cheaper than 0.05% for LSE instruments

cybermaster98 if withdrawing via SGD->CIMB SG->CIMB MY isn't possible, are you able to withdraw USD via Wise? then convert to RM, and topup to ewallet (TNG or BigPay). BigPay very lax when it comes to DuitNow to local bank accounts, TNG ewallet might be stricter (or not. since this isn't credit card funds)

i will strongly discourage transfer as you've shown

CIMB sg is cheaper so no big deal for us here. unless you've already withdrawn once per month to bank, so have to use Wise for once-a-month free withdrawal

you can still link IBKR to wise right? then can still deposit into IBKR, just the most expensive way. Wise bank account is in case you want to do ACH deposit into IBKR

whether there is any way to link our local bank with IBKR.

if u don't mind indirect way, transfer USD out to wise, then convert to RM, and topup your ewallet via Wise debit card. good to know the alternatives as IBKR gives 1 free bank withdrawal monthly, and 1 free Wise withdrawal for the same period

Sorry, it is the same as what Ziet taught on his youtube.
cybermaster98 2nd half of the video. timestamp 7:40 onwards

I only remembered that ziet did this video after melondance mentioned it. At least now I know where to refer ppl to if they ask for this. This will be Plan C. Plan A =Cimb sg->Cimb my, Plan B = wise.

Plan B I suspect I'll rarely use due to expensive wise fees, what more Plan C

abcn1n transfer SGD for free to IBKR (like how you bank in to your local stock broker). then, change SGD to USD inside IBKR. you'll be charged U$2 per U$100k, or minimum of U$2. reverse flow, follow the same fee structure. U$2, then FOC IBKR->CIMB sg

IBRK took few days to approve my account. so much so that i got desperate and tried to link direct debit to my wise. (direct debit won't work bcos IBRK will take U$x.xx from my wise, and require me to state how much was taken to prove i own the US acct. of which wise will take days to reflect in account)

approval came few days later and i could finally ACH

you can only convert SGD inside IBRK, not RM. for RM, if you want to deposit into IBRK from wise, you can
  1. convert in Wise to USD, then from Wise, ACH to IBRK for a fee of U$0.39. or,
  2. link wise<->IBKR, then from IBKR, request a transfer from wise (direct, but more expensive than item 1 even if ignore the 39 cents surcharge)
if your IBKR account is created but not approved, IBKR won't give you any bank details to do ACH transfer (via wise, or any other US banks)
